Shell Rotella® T6 5W-40 Full Synthetic Heavy-Duty Diesel Engine Oil, 1 Gallon $29.99@Advance Auto, if you want the best. If you order online, they sometimes have a 15% discount if you sign up to get their emails. The 2.5-gallon jug is $80.49, which is more expensive per liquid ounce than buying the 1-gallon container.
The next best would be a blended oil that is part synthetic and part dino oil but I don't ever use that in any of my vehicles, even though the manufacturer does recommend it.

ditto what Dusty said........

Any good diesel will suffice - the real part of the equation is changing it and keeping up with hours and years.

Your manual probably recommends a diesel rated 15w40 or 10w30 oil. To me, having worked for 31 years in the lube oil industry, these are the minimums. Personally, I'd use a 0w or 5w30 or 0w or 5w or 10w40. The 15w40 oil is goo in cold weather and likely will leave your upper valve trains smoking before it gets any oil in a cold start, and your cranking speed will be 60-70% lower than almost any other oil.

I have been running M1, 10w 40 for years. Really though any oil that is diesel rated will work fine, just what you want to spend your money on I guess

What kind or type oil for bx25d
You need a diesel rated oil and the current service category is CK-5.

For almost a century the standard viscosity grade for year round use has been 10W30 and that is still a perfectly satisfactory choice for anything other than unusually cold conditions.

0W40 and 5W40 viscosity grades offer a slightly higher hot viscosity and improved cold weather pumpability. Unless you are operating on the extreme end of hot/cold conditions thats probably of marginal value.

15W40 has never been a good choice in sub-freezing temperatures and that is still the case

WEnt to Advanced Auto today, and the T6 was $39.99 a gallon. I walked out without buying it. With my "discount" they were willing to take $5 off of a gallon. Only had 2 gallons in stock. Still not worth $7.50 per quart to me. Glad that I don't need any at the moment.

Been using Rotella 5w40 for a few years now. Went to get some and none to be found in my area. Read online that shell has an issue with producing it. Only place available is amazon and no way am I paying over a hundred for a 5 liter jug.

Multiple online sellers offering 3 X 1G packages for $46 and free shipping. That's less than $4 per quart.

Sounds too good to be true…. Yes, PayPal is great protection, they have helped me before. Do you really want the gang who brought you the China virus to get more of your info? Look at the reviews at the bottom this page before ordering.

Problem for me is I'm in Canada. No free shipping, currency exchange rate and most won't ship to Canada.
