My L2550 won’t start. Battery is fine. I’m pretty positive it’s either the starter, starter solenoid, or cable. It won’t jump off and when I turn the key, it doesn’t make that clicking sound. What can I do to narrow it down and can I bypass it to get it started temporarily? We just got some large square bales delivered that I have to move tomorrow before I go out of town.

One of the first, easiest things to check is battery cables. Especially check the ground where it attaches to the tractor frame. Clean it to a shine.

Bad ground equals no power getting to starter.

Description - L2550 starter wont engage. Have you checked the simple things?
Switch in seat? Is pto lever engaged or just slightly bumped? Your issue sounds like a micro switch safety switch thing. Make sure your butt switch is not hung up, pto engaged (I accidentally bump that rascal with my foot all the time) Make sure gear shift is in neutral etc...

I will but I doubt that’s it. I’m thinking it’s something in the starter or switch. I could always jump it off but now can’t. And like I said, it’s not making that clicking sound when I turn the key.

Not a good practice, but take those jumper cables and put 12 volts to the starter and see what happens. Make sure it is in neutral and ignition switch is on.

To jump the starter on a L2550 is very easy, pull the small connector wire off the solenoid, and jump that small terminal to the large battery connection and it will crank and start.

Make sure it's in neutral unless you enjoy being run over. ;)
