welcome to OTT - this is a great place and lots of fun folks !hi I have a l4240 Kubota I'm in the market for a new tractor been looking at a m5660 with loader and r1 tires but haven't found much info on the hoping to find some hear I'm a new meber to thanks
Unloading a ton of wood pellets since I'm a dealer and dairy ag work 300+ acrs of feild hay workWhat kind of work will you be doing that you believe the M5660 will be a better choice than the L4240?
I hear u their I love the ease of going the woods with the l since I do 12-15 cord of wood for my house and farm but the extra weight will be great don't usaly run out of power with the 4240 just lose traction I'm not a big fan of the dpf but that's what it is now hopimg to hear from a few people with the new 5660 on there thoughts of the machineIt looks like the M5660SUHD should be a real good tractor for you then. You can get it with 8/8 hydraulic shuttle. The extra weight and lift capacity of the M over L makes it a really good work machine for your uses. The price on the M5660SUHD is also going to be much cheaper than the equivalent size GL.
I love my L5740, but couldn't have it without our M8540, sometimes you just need the weight and power of an M.
Thanks for some insight I've done a few google searches and come up pretty dry it's a newer model so that might be some of it toI hope you find someone, I'm on two tractor forums and that size machine has never come up that I can remember.
Thanks for the heads up I test drove it a little played with the bottons a little but didint notice a % I'll have to find out that would be help fullAs near as I can tell from the Kubota website, the engine and dpf system in the M5660 is similar to the larger L series, with the common rail direct injection and turbo assisted aspiration. It seems to be a great engine, easy to start and quiet. I have that type of engine, but no turbo.
The one thing I would recommend asking about is the instrument panel display. In the Grand L's there is a very useful display of the amount of particulates in the dpf filter. It allows you to assess how your workload is filling up the dpf, and it gives you some way of knowing when it is going to insist that you let it run the regeneration cycle. This happens seamlessly as long as it is well warmed up, and the rpm's are kept high enough. My worry in a cold climate is that it is going to want to do a regen the second I start it, and that I will have trouble getting the tractor warmed up enough if it is 10 below out. So if it is sitting at 99% when I am done working, I find something else for it to do for 15minutes so that won't happen the next time I get it out.
In the smaller L tractors, the users only get a flashing yellow light to signal a regeneration is due, and if they don't notice it, it can cause problems. I think it would be worth it to get a model with the intellipanel if that is what it takes. So I would recommend seeing if you like the details of the display.
