Hello,
I am newbie to this forum.
I recently purchased a compact tractor ZEN-NOH ZB1500D but don't know much about history of this tractor. It smoked when it ran, previous owner said the engine need to be rebuild with new piston ring set, everything else is working and I saw it work.
I would like to know how to get a history of this tractor and where to buy piston ring to rebuild the engine?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Thanks for the infor.
Is there a cross reference for this tractor zen-noh ZB1500D model to Kubota model in order to buy parts for it?

Thanks,

Hi Daren & Lil Foot,

Thank you for the tractor equivalent infor.

I found my tractor there are some marking:
1. On the engine frame/mounting have these number " 355CC LL 26H*A4" . What is this number?
2. On top of engine block have these infor. "KT2 D89 2329 M". Is this an engine serial number or model number?

I found the engine piston ring set from www.compactractorparts.com/tractor-parts for this kubota model B7100 but not for model B7100DT per Lil Foot,
Question: will B7100 std piston ring set will fit on my B7100DT tractor?

We got the piston removed from engine block but don't know which piston set to order.

Thank you and looking forward for your reply.

All of the number you list can't answer what you need to make sure of.

A B1500 should have a D850 in it.
Where as a B7100 will have a D750 in it, they are close but not the same engine.
The other tractor that has a D850 in it is the B6200, but again don't blindly go by that because there is variations in the same engine numbers between models.

To confirm this you need to get look at the side of the block to the rear of the injection pump there will be a XXX CC #'s cast into the block.
Also look on the flat spot next to the injection pump facing up, there should be stamped in numbers there too.

Telling us that # we should be able tell you the size of the engine. ;)

Just an FYI: You can drop the ZEN-NOH and the Z and call it what it really is, it's a Kubota B1500DT.

Thank you for the replied.

Today I checked the engine again. I found the information I gave earlier is slightly incorrect.
1. At the the rear of the injection pump these are the number stamp in the engine in order:
855 cc
LL
26H
*A4 (* = actually letter X inside a circle)

2. On the flat spot next to the injection pump facing up, there is a stamped number:
KT2 D89 2329
M

I have enclosed actual stamped pictures of my engine number.

Please let me know of this engine model number and if possible piston ring part number.

Thank you so much for your help.

Best Regards,
Lee

That helps a lot.
It's a D850
"*A4 (* = actually letter X inside a circle)"
That's the not an X it's a K in a circle, it's the Kubota symbol. ;)

Before I can give you the right part numbers for the rings, I need to know if you have measured the cylinders, there is a couple of options depending on those measurements.
You will need to have it measured with a bore gauge, a simple mic will give false readings.
Depending on the readings, if they are too far off then you will need to buy cylinder liners and pistons too.
I have found that you normally can not just re-ring these older motors and bring them back into spec.
Did you do a compression test on it?
How does it start?
Was it slow to start or required a lot of cranking?

To just blindly re-ring without all the tests might be a huge waste of your money, as smoke can be caused by a multitude of issues.

And to answer your earlier question on finding out history of the tractor, yea that's not going to happen unless you had some bills of sale with all the previous owners information on them. ;)

Hello the Wolfman,

Thank you for confirmed the engine model number.
No, I have not doing a compression test yet. It is not even cross my mind.
The engine is slow to start and requiring 4-5 cranking before it started. Once the engine is hot more smoke started to come out.
Anyway, I already ordered D850 piston ring set and gasket set to re-install the engine with the help from a local mechanic guy.
Will let you know how it goes. Cross my fingers hope my effort won't be wasted.
