I bought a zen-noh 2201 for pasture cutting & works great.
Below the PTO & gear shifts is another shifter H-N-L.
The guy I bought it from said leave it alone, don't mess with it. I figure it's there for a reason. From a Japanese gear layout it looks like it runs with the axle H/L.
I looked at a Kubota 245, supposedly the same, it doesn't have this shifter, just a plate.
I like to know all the abilities of my tools & toys.
Thanks

You have it right it is the high low axle range shifter. My L1801 also has that and another shifter elsewhere on the tractor. These tractors will literally be able to creep up a steep hill at well less then walking speed.

The idea is the fact that to get the most power out to the PTO you slow down the tractor. When I use the rototiller I drop the speed down using this selector and it will turn my hard clay soil into the most wonderful powered soil.

Thankyou Michael
I thought I was NUTS.
It does have the axle H/L shifter too at the left fender.
I've used old JD's, Massey's & 8N's so this compact had me nervous.
So far it's a fun little tractor. I'm learning about orange as I go.
Glad to hear about the tilling, just bought a Woods 52" reverse tiller, if it stops raining I'll do a few acres for veggies.

My L1801 came with the original rototiller that might of been on the tractor and since my wife and I are now empty nesters we just do a "small" garden of a 1/4 acre. We plant eggplant, corn, sweet potato, pumpkin, sweet peas, tomatoes, long beans, and onions in ours. We have not bought much store bought vegetables in the last ten years since we moved here.

You will be amazed how good a tractor mounted PTO will do when it comes time for the garden.

Thanks guys.
It finally stopped raining long enough to test.
I tilled some very moist ground with foot tall orchard grass using the creeper.
It was amazing. It worked good enough I could have planted. We've cut it & will spray tonight, next weekend we will do it right if mother nature cooperates.
Thanks again.

I have a L245H how much is involved for me to add this creeper gear to my existing tractor?
