I did something stupid with my mower and a small sapling. It took all the blades off of my driveline fan:mad::eek:. It looks like I have to pull the drive line to replace it. I got it unhooked from the engine but there is not enough room to slide it backwards towards the engine to get it off the hydra-static shaft to slide the fan over it. It looks like there is a spline on the drive line that should slide. I didn't want to try to force it unless I was sure that was how it worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I should be able to get some pics up tomorrow if needed.

You hear about this all the time on the BX's and I'm pretty sure they have to split them to get the fan in.
I'll look for a manual or note on changing it, and yes post some pic's too.

Im just shooting in the dark here but once you disconnect shaft from engine and take retaining bolts out of u-joint at the transmission end can you not drop the engine end of shaft down enough to pull shaft off tranny splines? I'm just looking at parts manual.

Thank you for the replies. If I can slide it off the Hydra-static shaft the new fan will slip right over that end. I will get some pics this morning.
The U-joints will not let it angle enough to get out of the way of the engine connection to slide it back.

This is a shot in the dark.
Can you remove the 3 bolts on part 60 and slide it side to side to get some more room?

Here are some pics. I have the drive-line loose from the Engine. But there is not enough room to slide it off the Hydro-static out put shaft.

I need it to slide off this output to slide the fan on and bolt to the flange.

Is this spline supposed to slide in and out? It did not move freely and I did not want to force it. I doesn't look there is a lot of room for it to slide into the yoke though.

FYI, Got it apart and replaced the fan. The spline does move allowing the drive line to compress to get in and out.
