Good mower, aside from the transmissions. Even they weren't too bad (unlike the ZD25 and ZD28), I wouldn't be scared of it honestly. Drive it. If one side feels week, offer him about $1500 less than what the seller's asking, and be prepared to buy a $1500 HST.
As always when buying used, you'll want it checked out thoroughly. $5800 is a lot of money for a lawn mower, especially one that is a decade ir so old.
