Im new to tractors and recently bought B7200 4WD. The steering wheel is pretty loose even after fully adjusting it. Also the front wheels will wobble some over rougher terrain and at road speed. Im thinking that ive got to replace some steering linkage and perhaps gears in steering box. How would i figure which parts to replace?

change any linkage that has any amount of play in it. Tie rods should not have any play in them.

I was always under the impression that that was for setting the preload on the worm and nothing else and had no impact on loose steering components. In fact I also took it that over tightening the adjustment screw would cause steering box issues.

Sounds to me like worn tie rod ends.

You are correct, and there is a very specific set of instructions that have to be followed carefully in order to make this adjustment. If you tighten it too much, you will literally destroy the recirculating chrome plated steel balls that make the box work properly. I have seen this done numerous times in cars, when the box is adjusted without understanding exactly what is involved in doing it correctly. When you open the box, you find that all the chrome has been cracked and fallen off of the balls, and that hard chrome has done extensive damage as a result.

Kinda surprised no one mentioned this about wobbly front wheels. Looks like flat nuts and spring and flat washers for front lugs. Pull front tires and look for elongated or cracked holes in rims from loose lug nuts. If ok reinstall tires and torque nuts per op manual or wsm.
