Who can I send a transmission to have rebuilt?

I have a 1995 L35. The transmission is going to need to come out I think. Still waiting on results from the pressure testing but it slips when it gets warm. I am thinking about splitting the tractor myself but want to make sure that everything is 100%. So was wondering if there was anyone (preferably in the North East) that I can bring the transmission to and have them test everything?

Is it a HST?

If so, it may well not be cost efffective to rebuild it.

any dealer can do it

take them the whole tractor because there's no way to test them without it running/operating

slip under load could be a lot of things--including a failing main clutch (between the motor and trans). Not too terribly hard to put a clutch in it just lots of parts.

SDT, L-35s have Glide Shift, no hydrostatic.

Lugbolt, according to his previous thread, audiofn has determined that his problem is not the mechanical (dry) clutch. He has a dealer checking the hydraulic parameters.

I currently have it at the dealer but while the mechanic is a SUPER nice guy I am not sure how much he knows about this particular transmission. They have a guy at another store that he has been calling to try and diagnose it. After we talked about the dry clutch he was going to do some more testing. I am waiting for those results. That was a week ago. If it goes a whole lot longer then I may have to pull it and start to repair myself and I don't want it to take for ever...

As Potreeboy said the transmission is an GST transmission.
That' a job for a Kubota dealer.

They will need the complete tractor.

Neighbor just had his GST repaired at a Kioti dealership but the owner had worked at a Kubota dealership for many years.

It was expensive but less expensive than the Kubota dealership estimated.

The pulling it apart does not scare me at all but I have done a lot of mechanical work. Even going into the transmission does not freak me out. I just want the transmission to be tested if possible before it all goes back together. I don't want to have to do this twice! LOL

If your dealer doesn’t have any competent mechanics then take it out of there and get it to a dealer that has qualified mechanics for transmissions.

I am not saying he is or is not qualified I have never used them before. I just always second guess everything and try and keep looking at all options so that when things happen I am ready for the next step.

GST's are a pain in the backside. I don't know why anyone wants them when an HST is easier to use and more reliable, but that's just my opinion. Back in the day, GST was the hot ticket and for some tractors it was the only option (like the L35)

a lot of techs just don't like gst's or they don't know enough about them. I'm one that hated them (obviously). Way too much stuff to go wrong.
