Been around pellets a while. I burn about 5 tons of wood pellets for heating each winter. Probably close to 100 tons now.

I know different pellets, but haven't been sold on another grill to store, service, etc.

If a Pellet Smoker/Grill could do all I need, I'd be there.

Just can't get there.
My BIL said the same to me.

Then my brother bought one. And he told our BIL that I was right all along and you don't know what you're missing.

On sale at Costco a couple months later. My Sister convinced him to buy the Traeger. Around $600. Now, my BIL says they use it twice a week. He's hooked like a maniac.

I don't know anyone that bought one, that regrets it.

Just sayin'

I've met a couple people that had them and didn't like them. But I think the big issue was they left it out uncovered, then moisture got to the pellets and clogged up the works.

Mine is stored outside. But I keep it covered faithfully. I've had it for 2 years now and use it quite often.

Summer time it's used almost daily. Winter, probably once a week. But then I tend to make cook with the crock pot a lot in winter making stews and chili.

Mine is always covered. There's a computer in it.

The pellets and auger shute must remain dry.

We've had ours about 6 years or so.

It's burger time!!! Some decent angus 80/20 with several different seasonings..........

Got the buns toasted up, a nice sauce made with some sauteed onions to go on top. Served with a side of baked beans loaded with minced garlic and shallots.

Thank you sir for that compliment! Means a lot!.

I am definitely not a chef.

I hate and can't afford most fast food to feed my wife and 3 kids.

Just a guy with a massive cooking addiction that loves to cook for his family.

My mechanical background has always allowed me to adapt and understand cooking recipes and procedures though.

A recipe is the exact same as a repair procedure in my mind.

I do come from a pretty strong cooking background due to my pops and grandma being fairly confident and successful cookers. I did start cooking quite early in life because of my pops though. And I often take it as God preparing me how to provide for my family.

But absolutely no professional background whatsoever.

My posts aren't intended to ever boast, but to create positive conversations/ interactions and to potentially encourage others to create an atmosphere in which their family can come together and understand the real meaning of love and happiness. Which just so happens to occur often in our kitchen LOL!

However, there are several fellers on here that absolutely blow me away with their cooking talents. And that always gives me tons of motivation to keep it going.

Y'all know who you are........

wife and I smoked a frozen pizza yesterday. 1 hr 15 min. Digiorno (sp?) frozen thick crust. Put it on the pellet grill at 200 deg until it was done--took about 75min. You ain't had a good pizza til you've smoked one.

I did lasagna the other day, that was different. Good, just different. Smoky flavor in lasagna.

I haven’t a clue on how to use a smoker either.

A lot of guys are great with them, including @Daren Todd.

You asked about our shrimp BBQ the other night.

Was fantastic, as always. Probably posted the BBQ sauce recipe in the past….real simple.

Folks that shun seafood don’t know what they’re missing. Of course, there are allergy issues that are a serious problem.

Our DIL is allergic to shellfish and I’m very careful with that.

That said, it’s something you need to grow up with or have positive experiences with.

We didn’t eat out much as a kid, but if I could get fried shrimp I jumped on it…. 😋

Got some great exposure while a teenager in restaurants.

We’re so fortunate that our kids always ate what we did (or not at all).

Our daughters, now early-30’s, will eat anything except baked beans for one and chipotle for the other.

Son at late-20’s has an allergic-type aversion to avocado.

Our kids’ daycare was run at the home of a local independent automotive shop.

Friday’s they’d order in hot buffalo wings and pizza for lunch sometime.

At about 4 or so, my daughters ate all the mechanics’ wings……😳

They were begging for them. One of the guys says…”give them one to shut them up…”

Didn’t realize they had wings at home many times!!😋

Ate ‘em all…..👍
I might have to request that BBQ sauce recipe. I have one from my pops that I've often used for a baked beans recipe.

But I usually find myself just grabbing bottles of a private selection "brisket burnt ends" sauce that kroger offers. It's fairly decent.

My oldest sister has a shellfish allergy, so i understand completely.

She's also a well known marine biologist on the west coast that does extensive research with humpback whales. She's a complete nut LOL, and fully converted to vegan many years ago, so I don't even have to worry about cooking for her ever again LOL, extremely hard to please.

That's the biggest problem i have with the wife and youngins is they usually won't even try the occasional seafood dish that I do make. I usually just do it as an experimental lunch dish and not for dinner so no one goes starving LOL. Cause its a one and done meal over here as well. No secondary dinners for my kids.

Heck, I couldn't even get the wife to eat the freshest of lobster when we'd frequent my cousin's and aunt's place in Maine.

But if I can't get the wife to try it, then my daughters won't go near it.

I never knew one could have a reaction to avocados. All i need is a spoon and I can eat one cut right open with a little salt and pepper. Absolutely love em.

Found an old butt in the bottom of the chest freezer and smoked it on the Weber. 7 hours with a little crabapple wood for flavor. Made some of the Weber Carolina barbecue sauce and boy was it good tonight with some Cole slaw made with a fresh local cabbage.

Easy-peasy. I adjust quite a lot. Good for seafood. Not sure I’d want it on pork or beef. Chicken might work

cooked lunch for my mechanical room contractors today,, beef, sweet sausage, bell pepper, mushroom and fennel pasta sauce.. toasty cheesy garlic bread..
Touche' my brother! Looks molto eccellente!
