He already had a geologist look at it but the news report did not say what caused it. Is it from an old mine? Is it from an underground water source? If a geologist cannot tell you, then who can? Since the hole is filled with water, I am guessing the erosion is from an underground water source and probably nothing long term can be done about it.

If it gets any larger and fills up with water, stock it with fish and open a private fishing hole and charge admission to fish.

Oh my…What would I do…well, at the site I would erect a shrine, and I’d start a church / theme park of ‘the orange lovers in the here and now’ and do baptisms as well exorcisms if ye be afflicted with sins of the green tractors. We’re probably gonna need a big collection plate for tips. Of course they would be an obstacle course and free demo rides for those that already paid to get the demons out.

OPEN A ZIP-LINE ATTRACTION.

Seriously, “filling” that hole is a leap-ahead of the problem. FIRST thing to do is determine WHERE all that soil is GOING.

It may be that an underground cavern (it IS Missouri)…or some hydrology-activity is causing this.

Mining or drilling/exploration activity can contribute to this, even some Distance-Away can do this.

I can tell you what I wouldn't do. I wouldn't stand on the edge of it in marvel hoping it didn't devour me.

I'd just wait for it to stop "sinking" ... Then decide if I wanted to fill it in or have a pond ...

under a rock
This happened in southern Mo. beginning 11/10/25.

The woman interviewed said there is a "creek" across the street....
It's probably an under ground river or a high water table migrating over...

probably need to start drilling some test wells in the area to see how far it goes and whats vulnerable.

luckily it looks like his house is a distance away...

This is how creeks, rivers, and streams reroute themselves.

What would I do? As my old neighbor used to say, "I'd pull a Hank Snow".
