I've been working on my B7100 HSTD and it's now back together, repaired radiator, new cap, new hoses, belt, blades along with an oil and filter change.
I was wondering when the grass cutting season arrives what throttle position is best for mowing grass?

Do these machine rely on high revs to do the job?

My JD-X728 and Kubota ZG-327 operate at full throttle for mowing.

Thanks.

Bill :)

Wide open, that's what the dealer told us years ago and it works.

I do believe Service Dept Vic mentioned in a previous post a while back that these tractors have a limiter so if you crank the handle wide open the tractor wont run above a per set rpm anyway.

They've got a throttle stop that if set properly should be the machine's rated rpm. Gman has it though, you want to run at 540 PTO rpm which is usually marked on the tach. There's little point with a hydrostatic but you can run it a little lower if you've got power to spare but the slower the blades spin the poorer the cut. Our old Wheel Horse was geared just wrong, to slow (for me) in 2nd, too fast in 3rd for grass cutting. I got yelled at several times for running it at about 2800rpm in 3rd and leaving big clumps of badly cut grass behind.
