Mowed with the B1700 on Saturday and noticed that the belt on the mower deck was coming apart. I have a new belt on hand. Will change it this week and pull the blades to put a quick edge back on them since I’ve hit a few rocks this spring
Up here rocks work their way to the surface because of frost, so I also wait till after a couple mowings before sharpening blades.

I have been using my bush hog behind the L245 to keep the grass down while I wait for parts for my Stiga Park Pro lawnmower. Sure isn't the same finish!

Started a project that’s kicking my butt. Been wanting to put riprap in drainage ditch for a while and pulled the trigger. Before the comments I cannot stand seeing an open culvert. I’ll start the other side tomorrow.

Finally got around to puting on my Piranha tooth bar.. fit was perfect and I'm ready to use this thing! Having some dirt brought in to fill a lot of voids, it's what I ask for.. for Father's Day. 😊 29C1C135-20CB-407F-B2CA-DE194E3729DB.jpeg 782BD73C-978A-4CCE-9CBC-6FB72B94C891.jpeg E853AAC6-E4F5-4732-9616-82C2918DA3C7.jpeg
Very sharp! Going to make work so much easier on the lil guy.

I was mowing the back field the other night and hit a tree root. I sounded funny and was skipping the center so I parked it for the night. Yesterday I got under it and found 3/8" of wobble in the blade. I got the nut off (left hand BTW) and it's a mess and looks like it sheared. I started breaking down the deck and discovered some chuckle head had put a grade 5 bolt where the shear pin connects the PTO to the gearbox. I was not a Merry Man yesterday. I'm getting to old to be wrenching all day and am very sore today, but thank God for hydraulics. If a new bolt will work it'll be a bonus - if not it'll be a new spindle. A trip to the tractor place Monday is in order.

Replaced the drive belt on the mmm. While off i greased everything I NL using those hard to reach fittings on the PTO shaft. and cleaned the bottom of the deck. Also put an edge back on the blades. Worse part is getting that shaft back on. Had the wife help push. Time to grab some water and a cigar to mow. Mowed last night and temperature gauge was a little squirrelly to the hot side.

Today, sprayed radiator out with garden hose, and then greased the mower deck.

Also cleaned spade connection for temperature sending unit. Seems better.

I don’t think it was getting hot, but like motionclone’s message in another thread yesterday, always start with the simple stuff….

Last Saturday was the’Moline’s turn for attention. Still covered this weekend.

Yes I did try that green slime. That's what is so disheartening about it. Now, in the cold I have to jack it up, take the front wheel weight off, remove the wheel and then put a tube in. Already had to do the mate back when warmer. Figures one of them would catch me. I used almost a whole bottle of slime but wonder if the FWA causes the sidewall to flex to much to stay sealed. I'm not sure in my own head that it's a fair comparison or not. A 2wd tire doesn't have the same forces exerted upon them.
I use the rim bead sealer on my equipment tires. You can break the bead and apply it around the bead area with the included brush. It's available at most auto part stores. Just wipe the tire bead and rim area with a good cleaner first. Works great, cheap and fixed most of the slow leaks I had. The slime seems better for tread area leaks but not too good for the bead unless you add a lot into the tire.

I moved my F2400 out of the way then finished mounting the backhoe frame to my L3430. Now it's on to the hydraulics.

Bought a used trailer from my dealer they used for deliveries. I'll pick it up later next week. Mowed 6.5 acres of grass with my 60" MMM. 4 acres of it is my brother in laws that I took on last month. I think I will pick up either a 72" or 84" rear finish mower if it's going to be a ongoing project.

Moved some scrap (that’s been laying in the woods since some long dead person I’ve never met left it there) into a pile where I can get a truck and trailer to it once it’s all piled up and ready to go to the dump. It’s a lot easier to wrestle an old oven away from a herd of honeysuckle vines with a grapple than it is with just a pair of hands.

Driving down one of the trails, found it blocked by a large maple limb. Old method: go back home, fill saw with gas and oil, back to the obstruction, cut to manageable pieces, drag out of the way. Approximate time, 30 to 40 minutes. New method: run into it with grapple, lift slightly, shove it into the adjacent underbrush, back up to re-enter the trail, on to something else. Approximate time, 30 to 45 seconds. I like the grapple.

Ran the grader scraper on the neighborhood gravel road past the point that is maintained by the county. At this point, the “unmaintained” part that we maintain is better than the maintained part. :D

If we learn by our mistakes I'm going to be one smart guy someday. . .

I got to use my subsoiler today.

I have 5 wired cameras in about a half acre of the woods to record the various critters that wander through. When I did the initial install BT (before tractor) I just put the cat 5 and power cables in pvc conduit and laid it on the ground. Within a year they were all covered over and out of sight. Now I am looking to extend the system another 300' and use the power for led lighting along the driveway. Burying the cables is a much better option.

The subsoiler went way beyond my expectations in digging a narrow 12" deep trench. It had no trouble ripping roots and pulling out some good sized rocks for the 120' or so that I was running to another tree. There I would split out the power for the leds and have a small ethernet switch for the new cameras another 200' beyond.

Unfortunately when I turned around for another pass the blade snagged the existing conduit feeding those cameras.

Both the cat5 and power cables broke. I guess they were no match for a 3000lb tractor moving away.

Boy, I am going to be the smartest person someday!

I guess you were right., the existing conduit covered itself pretty well. It happens to the best of us, your mind gets to wondering and takes over for a short time. Some may call it daydreaming but for us to do guys.. we usually have multiple task that needs done Now! Always thinking of the next step..

Seams to me going from a 60 inch mower isn’t going to gain you very much.

Take a look at tow behind mowers like a Swisher. You could cover about 9 feet in one pass.

Look at some YouTubes. I have used one and like it a lot.

Put some time on the flail mower today at home. For some reason the woods on one side get full of overgrown grass and weeds, while the other side just gets little saplings. I'm really happy how the flail mower can do a halfway decent cut on the grass and still be brought through the saplings and brush.
