What kind of bike you riding over the brother?

I started racing when I was 13 at a local track here in Pearl, MS. Shut down LONG ago.

Started out on a 93 big wheel KX 80, Had some 98 FMF graphics on her to dress her up, actually a really nice looking bike.

Couple years later graduated to a 95 KX125. Ended up being an almost every weekend thing for me and my family for several years.

I actually got to ride with Kevin Windham (pro ama rider at the time) when I was 15 when he decided to show up for a weekend event at our hometown track. An absolutely amazing experience. Eventually hung it up just before I started driving on my own and turning wrenches, mid 2000.

Decided to "relive" my youth again around 2006 or maybe 2007, and found a '03 CR250 on craigslist with a blown cylinder for $800 bucks.

A great buddy of mine owns a small engine repair shop. Got me a rebuild kit and we got her back going again within a couple days. Went and ran the fire out of her back behind his neighborhood (because he literally lived right next door to a daycare) trying to be respectful to others. Boy that bike was something!

Within 10 minutes of doing so, I promptly received a trespassing charge for riding the bike on our levees in Flowood, MS. I think I was 23 or so. Sold the bike 2 weeks after to pay for the charges i'd acquired. Only real time i've ever been in trouble with the law.

Legitimately just trying to do right a be respectful of others. Complete backfire LOL.

Stay safe on them things brother have a left shoulder that acts up every now and then because of them.

That is actually way more up our alley now. And so much safer LOL!

My oldest and I got into it several years ago. Made a rock crawling course, multiple little mini trails and everything. Great times!

Like you, was a weekend warrior. Took a break and got back into it several years ago. Started racing hare scrambles. Now being over 40 just ride for fun. Lucky to be able to ride out my back door. Hence why I got the Kubota.

Current ride is a KTM 350 XCF. Great do-it all vet bike. I was searching for a CR250R but stumbled upon some rare Italian stallions. A pair of TM 250 MX bikes. That's whole nother conversion in it's self. Bonus points for Kevin Windham. He is my favorite all- time rider from long ago. Totally jealous you got to ride with him. Cheers!

If you did something to or on you're tractor today and you don't want to start a new thread then post it here :D

I installed a horn I took from a tiny Toyota and then installed a decompression cable on mine today. Was going to do a little grading on the drive but got tired :(
Gurn
You know I was thinking about doing that too. Probably not a big deal but sometimes you just need a horn, even if just to honk at the neighbor as you drive bye.
The real reason for starting this post was to ask for more advice. I was doing some research on how to easily adjust the 3 point hitch, when you need to adjust it to have one side high or lower than the other side. Now maybe I am wrong but it seems that a ratcheting side link would do it. But if I am wrong please correct me on this! If I am correct then if someone has installed one on their tractor, if possible, post a picture of it and where you purchased it? Your input would have very helpful information for possibly others who might be interested in the topic.

Graded the driveway today after the 5" of rain we had last Thursday, using the new 7' heavy grader blade, including the twice yearly grade of the lower driveway, reclaiming from the encroaching weeds. Still getting used to this big blade (compared to a light duty 5' BB)--but much more efficient. Lower driveway--flat--is basically dirt and small river rock, and upper driveway hill is limestone base. I definitely like the BB result on the gravel/limestone hill better, but this heavy 6 way blade is very efficient. Far less passes and the angle and offset makes it easy to put material where I want it, with small feathering adjustments on the 3 pt lever--as I say frequently, the enemy of good is perfect. That's difficult being a perfectionist...

Hill before:

After:

Lower driveway before:

After:
IMG_4525.jpg

Picture still looks pretty rough but ruts are smoothed and material from sides reclaimed. I left the grass I pulled up to wither, too much trouble to drag off. Basically one pass down, one pass up, and then rotate blade 180 degrees and back drag down the crown.
IMG_4527.jpg

Anyone who says one blade is better than the other doesn't have both. They both have their best uses. This 500# 6 way blade can move a lot more material than my BB, but my BB makes a smoother result with small material like gravel. We had 10" deep runoff ruts on the upper section steep shared road that the BB would not have touched, but the grader blade did a nice job--even with only a 30 horse tractor. Didn't get any pics up there, too many coming and going at the time but I was pleased with the result.

I to crossed over the 40 threshold this year. Gotta be much more careful these days. We ain't built like we used to be.

I've been out the game so long that i know nothing about all those bikes. And the cc increments have gotten crazy.

"Back in my day" LOL, it was just 50s, 80s, 125s, 250s, and the legendary 500s.

Actually rode my stepdad's buddy's 95 KX500 one day out there at the Pearl track. At 15 years old, huge mistake. I remember riding up to my stepdad's dodge ram and falling up against the side of it because my feet we still several inches from touching the ground.

Boy did I learn the importance of respecting a bike that day. Unbelievable power! Only weighing about 150lbs then, that bike had the power to rise up in 4th gear.

I do remember at the end of my racing days, the yz400f (4 stroke) had made its debut. Amazing bike.

Years later after all that, I would try to transfer that knowledge to street bikes. Went out and bought a 2006 GSX600F (katana not a "GSXR") trying to ride with a group of boys i had no business being with. The wife and I were riding with a stunt team named Illegal Actions out of Byram, MS. I wasn't a "stunter" by any means, just enjoyed riding with them as a group.

The wife got fairly interested, started training her to ride the katana while I went out and bought yet another bike, an '07 GSX600R. I mean why not? With good credit, our local dealer Jackson Motorsports could get you out the door with a bike for $100 bucks a month. Insurance, on the other hand, was another story.

That GSXR was an easy 100lbs lighter than that katana. The Katana was 460lbs or so. And the weight difference along with the over all way a GSXR forces your body posture completely over the seat, dang near over the bars, made for dangerous riding... at least for me.

Had a couple mishaps, along with 2 fellow riders killing themselves on that particular team, I sold them both within a year.

Kevin Windham was a straight up southern boy. And i guess I wouldn't say I actually rode with him, you'd just see the back of him mainly LOL. He was from Louisiana, but frequented our track in Pearl in his off season, along with Liberty and at a track north of Prentiss, MS. Also ran into him at a race in Monroe, LA.

You've brought back some good memories for me and the wife tonight, Thank you sir!

Brandon

Decided that I'm tired of paying $80+ a year for a PO Box, so I'm putting up a mailbox.

I have a corner of the lawn next to the driveway that never has grown grass worth a hoot, so scraping it down, backfilling with crushed stone and tamping to give the mail driver a place to pull off the road while tending my box.

Got it cut out, box-bladed smooth and starting to back fill when the tractor started steering funny. Right front flat, must've let it get too low and pinched the tube doing loader work. Being Labor Day, no place to get it fixed, so I guess I'll take the rest of the day off.

Brother y'all have got some of the most unbelievable scenery up there. Down here all we got is flat land and tall trees.

Everywhere I go i'm ALWAYS surrounded by massive trees and can't see far off for nothin' LOL!
For sure! I love trees, but flat states with really thick vegetation make me feel claustrophobic. Add in some humidity and I'm really miserable.

I spent the day on the lake yesterday and am heading back out today. It's fun to cruise the coastline and check out all of the fancy homes. When I saw this backyard I wondered whether I'd want to mow it, and what equipment the homeowner uses. It's 100ft deep water just a few yards off the shoreline so if you lose control you'd better have a SCUBA tank on your back!

It's steeper than it appears in the photos, and a bit of moisture on the grass and it could get interesting in a hurry.

@McMXi : How often do you sharpen your blades and what equipment do you use?
I use an angle grinder with a flappy disk and do it whenever it's needed. I always inspect the blades prior to using and if there's damage I address it.

Leaving my friend's place last night after a day on the lake, I had to stop and take a photo of his field (to the right) with rain and even some lightning off to the West in the distance. I cut the field the previous day and it's very satisfying to mow and see such a big difference in just a few hours. The vegetation was only 3ft or so at the highest, but it sure looks good now.

I would have really enjoyed cutting into the later hours on such a night, watching the rain and seeing the sun set as I run up and down the field.

We abused our bodies when we were younger and now it’s telling us that we need to “slow the roll” as my wife tells me!
Yes, I wake up every morning with more aches and pains but I just can’t stop! Sometimes it’s just better to get up and get it done, just push yourself past the pain. Like we used to say in the Marines,
“ just suck it off and get it done “ but at 72 years old I think it’s not time for slow down yet! Both parents are still with us, at 97! So if I play the cards right, I should have a good many years ahead of me. If the Lord is willing.

So I been away for a week visiting Arizona & Nevada. Got back home and talked to the tractor make sure she was alright. No drips so must've been fine without me, it didn't cry.

Anyways...man first time being out west...what a different world. Got to see all sorts of stuff. Sedona was amazing, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, Route 66, couple ghost towns, Tombstone, Bisbee and of course the Grand Canyon!

Stopped at gas station on the way to the Grand Canyon to stretch the legs and I saw some tractors so of course I had to take pictures of them.

And as we can clearly see on your picture: John Deere tractors are not as advanced as Kubota. They don't even have rubber tyres. :p
I saw signs for Kubota dealerships but I didn't see anyone using a Kubota anywhere! They might be shy in Arizona.

I went by Empire Cat on I-10 heading toward Tucson and I couldn't look away....all that heavy equipment there, hundreds and hundreds of excavators, dump trucks, dozers, bucket loaders as far as the eye could see.
