They had the CUTs lined up according to size and gives an idea of the size differences. To the left are two L3901s, then a L4701, big M7060 cab in the front, then a Grand L cab, and a MX5800 next to the yellow track loader.

Decided on the MX5800. The M6060/7060 are too big for my uses.
The dealer will add a top and tilt, 3rd remote, 3rd function, filled tires, HD 72" bucket, and LED work lights. Probably will be ready late next week. I made sure the ROPS will clear my 96" garage door. Raised the bar after the photo and it was 94" high with the R4 tires.

Congratulations....that's a big jump. You must be going from like a 38hp to like a 50hp. The tractor is way bigger.

Congrats. I got my MX5800 a couple months ago and absolutely love it. It is strong and has been flawless.

Congratulations, the MX is a really good buy, you might want to add some bucket hooks while they are a it.

Thanks guys.

That's a good idea about the bucket hooks. Are they just weld on steel hooks that are sold at places like Macmasters or are they from tractor stores?

You can get them at several places, just don't use chain hooks. Kens has them: http://www.boltonhooks.com/

So does Truck and Tow, I'm sure others carry them as well.

Have the dealer add the hooks and paint to match before you pick it up. My experience and that I have read from numerous others is that they will do that for you, and many times for no extra charge.

Looks like you had a nice day to visit the dealer:D. Looks like the weather from my neck o' the woods.

Have fun,

Dean

Agreed, but be sure they use the right hooks, on our M8540 my dealer just put chain hooks on, so for my L5740 I took the hooks and marked where I wanted them, no added charge.

Yeah, got kind of wet walking around. LOL

Thanks for the advice. I'll see if they can do it.

Ok, I'll bite: why? I have seen some people cut the shackle off a chain hook and weld it on.

If you don't care what something looks like or you have the time, equipment, time and skill, chain hooks or just about anything will work, some use shackles rather than hooks. Weld on hooks were designed and manufactured with the proper taper, shaft length to pull out of the box nd weld right on.

I never asked for the technical explanation, I just know my L5740 looks great and my M8540 looks like crap and will be cut off and replaced.

I like ready made, professional looking results, so my next ones will come from here. http://www.boltonhooks.com/kubota.html

Ok, so it's an aesthetic issue rather than a functional problem. Fair enough.

Aesthetic and ease, I prefer to use "made for" products rather than adapting, I can understand those who prefer it the other way though as that's how I grew up. We had a scrap pile and welder that got lots of use.

Yeah, TripleR, I get where you're coming from. When I bought my tractor, they had the weld-on hooks you could buy if you were going to install them yourself. I just asked them to add chain hooks to my bucket as they were prepping for delivery. The ones they used were the ones intended for welding onto the bucket, but I can see where some might just use whatever is lying around.
What I originally thought you were talking about is using the hooks with the larger throat - can't remember what those are called but the chain slips right through them. The hooks I specified are where the throat is a "slot" for the thickness of the chain to slip into - I assume those are referred to as "chain hooks".
I see sometimes someone will weld at least two of the chain hooks to a bucket and then sometimes have a larger throat "lifting" hook welded on as well.

I "believe they are called "slip hooks", some use them when running a chain between the bucket hooks, I've not tried it, so don't know how well it works.
