Wanting to buy BX1870 or BX1870-1

Hi,
I've been lurking on this website for the last couple months.

My big box store Husqvarna caught on fire about a month ago and is now good for nothing but parts. A month or so before that, I had the broken frame repaired. So, I've decided to get something that will last.

A dealer quoted me a price which I thought was quite fair. Come to find out it isn't the BX1870-1, but the previous version which is the BX1870. As I understand, the difference is in the way the ROPS folds. I think the added overall length with the ROPS only folded part way might be a problem for me when storing in a shed.

So, they quoted me a price which is $360 higher to get the BX1870-1 ordered in. (The BX1870 is on their lot)

Any opinions as to whether it is worth the extra $360?

Thanks,
-Jeff

If you're financing it, you won't notice the $360 in the bill. If you're paying up front, then you have to ask yourself if you can get a longer shed for $360... LOL! :D

I was kinda in the same boat as you. I'm signing the papers on mine this friday (bx2370-1).

It would be worth if for me personaly. They changed the floor mat which is much thicker and nicer. Along with the rops.

Here is my question to you; what are your main uses for this Tractor?

The reason i ask is, for me it was worth the extra 28 bucks a month to buy the 2370 or about 1500 difference if you paid cash.

I expain later depending on your response. But either way they are both great tractors.

I am paying cash, so I feel the $360.
Right now the deal is that it's $1000 less without Kubota financing.

I live on 2 acres, with it currently about 1 acre of grass. So, the primary duty of it will be mowing the lawn (if I can call it that). But, I'm going to get a FEL so that I can do some other miscellaneous work around the place.

My wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting a FEL. I probably am, but I want it.

So, I keep looking at the incremental costs.
$360 to go to the -1 model.
About $1900 more to go to a BX2370-1

I really would like to jump to the 2370, but it's realistically out of reach. The price of the BX1870-1 is already a stretch for me.

Thanks for the responses. I'm anxious to hear more.

I am not a fan of financing anything but with 0% it really isnt costing you anything.

So if im in your shoes. I would put half down on the 2370-1 with the Bigger FEL and Better mower deck.More comfy chair, more power for lifting with FEL. Get the 54inch due to only an acre of land to mow. Finance the rest plus insurance.

so tractor 14490ish - 7245 = 7245/60 =120.75 + Insurance Total around $135 mo. did not include tax cus i dont know yours. (FYI you get 800 off right now if you get two implements on tractor plus finance)
(FEL+ 54in MMM and R4 tires)

Put the rest of that money in savings and draw interest on it.

Double or tripple payments as you can.

Go play with shinny new tractor. :)

I am in your boat but i have bigger property 7 acre. This is how i am doing it, exception 60 inch deck for me.

Also, I am getting more implements for mine..

Box scrapper, tiller, maybe small pto gen.

I have two long gravel driveways, Plus i burn wood for heat. Also have a 100yard by 50 yard garden.

So i wanted the bigger fel and more power. I did decide on the 1870-1 at first but after the cost differenct with the finance and incentives, I had to get the bigger 2370-1 it was logical to me. BUT i have more land and i plan on using my tractor alot.

I see you are in MN so you could get a snowblower for yours.

That's kind of what I did too, a large down payment, and financed the rest,, that was about as painless as it has ever been buying something like that
