Wanting to add rear remotes for rear bank flail mower

Hello,
Can anyone give me good advice on what kits are out there for my L4060 ? its a 2022. Ive seen some that bypass the loader to use, not sure if I like that idea. I just have the loader now, I shoulda had them added when I bought it but some said Kubota ports belled off a lot and I dont have any implements yet that needed 1.
Id really like to add at least 2 or even more in case i want more later.

You can roll your own with an inexpensive 3 spool valve for roughly $500. So easy a caveman could do it. Factory kit is about $3K - a bit more difficult but very well integrated.

I've seen a school of thought that using the loader valve is actually better. Not saying that you don't need rear remotes for other things, but a bank mower you tend to have to adjust all the time. Rear remote levers aren't necessarily ideal to control two functions - you have to move from one lever to the other and back. Your loader joystick gives you two functions on the one stick, once you get the muscle memory it means not having to move your hand from lever to lever.

Just something to mention, obviously rear remotes would work as well.

Nothing involving a cab is easy but the takeoff point for cabin is the same as open station. Getting to it may be an exercise in sheetmetal cuts

Finding a place for the third party valves is probably the hardest part on both.

The OP seems to be familiar with the stories about the OEM valves.

I have three sets of factory rear remotes on both tractors and run a Del Morino flail mower with hydraulic offset and hydraulic head rotation (uses two sets of remotes) and I can't imagine running it off the loader valve.

When making adjustments I'm looking over my shoulder and it'd be awkward having to reach for the loader valve while doing that. The M definitely has the control levers for the remotes in a better location compared to the MX, but even the MX controls are better than using the loader valve.

Edit: I ran the MX and flail tonight and I need to admit that I was wrong. It's actually very easy and quite comfortable to operate the loader valve while looking over my shoulder. The loader valve is quite close to the operator so not a problem. Apologies to @PaulL for my incorrect assumptions.

I have NEVER seen a decent installation of 3rd party valves on a cab tractor.

That's not to say that it can't be done, just never seen it and if there is a set out there, it most likely is a set of electric valves.

yes i do have a cab. Summit has a kit with no hoses. They did say not sure on cab fitment.
This link is what i referenced about tying into the loader control.
some reason my cab has the plug just like the M series he is installing. The other joystick on that tractor looks like the Summit kit. Not sure why they would do both. I appreciate all the insight. Im lost on what to buy and where to tie in. Not a hydraulic person.

That kit is just a manual diverter valve and some hoses with quick couplers. Its not a real remote and its only one spool. You can easily do two if not 3 real remotes for that price but it requires mire work on your psrt.

Breakaway couplers are standard issue and the bracket he is using is $25 at your local TSC. Heres four DIY sets on the back of my standard L with a mounting panel I fabricated. It also has a manusl diverter like he used mounted in the middle as a on/off control for the left set of constant flow couplers.

You can also buy the very nice kUbota OEM coupler kits (second picture) for your cab tractor and install them yourself but they are pricey. Three sets is better part of a grand Just for the outlets and brackets.

As MtnView said the hard part is locating and mounting the a real remote vslve.

The whole base kit (L8396) which also includes the OEM valve mounting parts, hoses, and levers (but not the valve) is $760. Addon stacking kits (L8393 and L8394) which include valve levers (but not the valve), hoses, and the couplers are $360 each. Kubota has made sure its difficult and expensive to get just the outlets.....

The bleed off I have heard about, for a ditch mower wont really be a issue for me. I have 2 acre of pond shore to mow and 2 60 degree banks. Weed eating killing me. Pond is 1200 lineal feet alone.

Pilot operated check valves will cure any internal valve leakage problem but you wont have float capability.

Be prepared to wait for those kits. People are reporting 6 month delays in getting factory remotes. Messicks is quoting 70 days.....

Well, you are correct. No one has these in stock. 2 to 3 months out on the L8396.
Valves and stacking kits/ handles all in stock. I may look in to a ditch mower that has its own hydraulics. Run off the pto. Not sure though on reliability.
