I'm doing a rebuild on a pre-1997 v2203 IDI that needs new cylinder liners. In searching the web I found part number 14911-02310 but I can't seem to get confirmation from Kubota USA or dealers that I've contacted. They said their computer systems don't have the specs as this is a "industrial part number."

This engine was purchased partially disassembled. It has a Carrier oil pan and I have it fully disassembled and I've confirmed it does in fact have cylinder liners.

The fun part is that it is being swapped into a 1947 Willy CJ2A.

I hope someone can help.

Liners for 87mm x 92.4 bore & stroke (like Kubota D1703 and V2203) don't seem to be readily available in the U.S. On the island of Cypress these people appear to be claiming to have them in stock. But the picture doesn't look like the liners in my V2203 (new rings last year). My liners are quite thin at the top, indicating they don't have a top shoulder and are likely dry inserts - not wet-type. Maybe there is more than one liner style?

On the top of the valve cover, there should be a tag (usually black) that will have the exact engine #.
With that number I might be able to tell you what part # you need.

@North Idaho Wolfman...thanks for the help.

Before work I confirmed that there is no tag on the valve cover. It does have a twist off oil filler cap, if that helps any.

Is there anywhere else I can look?

I'm pretty sure that this is a pre-1997 it has the older engine identification stamped on top of the block next to the fuel injector.

My research says that the second part is the date of manufacture.

I did notice that there is another identification number on the head next to the hoist loop: 50429

I can try to post pictures if that helps.
Thanks again!

I don't see a liner, most V2203's do not have liners when they are new, but I could be wrong, take a picture of the top of the block, there you will see the liner if so equipped.

The liner in your picture is a wet liner, it's used to repair a damaged block where on cylinder is damaged, or it might be used in marine applications????
Most normal Kubota liners are dry liners not wet.

This is what the block should look like with a sleeve, you can clearly see the sleeve sticking out of the bottom of the cylinder hole.

Now this brings us to the point of, what is wrong with it that you think you need sleeves?
They do sell pistons that are .5 mm oversized and that makes up for wear or damage. ;)

Sorry I missed the second question.

Do you think it is safe to have the sleeves machined/honed to 87.5MM to take the +.5mm pistons? If I can do this then I can find the +.5mm pretty easily.

I was worried that this would make the sleeve too thin.

Thanks for all the advice!

Oh yes, completely safe to mill that much off of them. ;)

Have the block bored and not honed, I have seen too many of them honed cockeyed!
