Making a new thread about this so it doesn’t clutter everything up.
IMG_4164.jpeg I picked up a L275 that “ran when parked” probably a decade ago. Hopefully there are no major issues with the engine but it may need clutch work. This model has a dual clutch, right now the clutch only has resistance at the PTO stage. It does not return at all on the driven clutch.
Is this an indication of the clutch stuck or an issue with the flexplate?

I plan on working to get it running next week.

That doesn’t look too bad at all!

The tank may be rusted on the inside so you may not be getting fuel out of the tank! If it was me I would get a tank they use for working on motorcycles to adjust carburetors when the tank is removed. Search Amazon for “auxiliary fuel tank motorcycle” to see them. Or possibly a boat fuel tank. Just gravity feed through an inline filter to the injector pump. That way you know you are getting good, fresh, clean fluid. (Don’t ever use starting fluid on these engines.)

Good luck and there are several threads on here of people getting old tractors running fairly easily after they had been sitting for some time.

If you put it in gear does it roll?
Now does it roll when you push in the clutch pedal?

It will hold itself in gear. Currently stuck in high range due to the fender being bent against the lever.
I”ll have to see if it will roll while I push the clutch in when I have a second person.

The clutch is seized could be either the clutch plate or the presser plate.
You just need to open it up.

The engine won’t be able to be started in that condition since the tractor will want to move when you crank the starter since the transmission is in gear. (This is my opinion of the situation as I understand it)

@North Idaho Wolfman
Can he just get the transmission into neutral to see if the engine will start? Or is there something I am not thinking about? He may need to take the top cover and shifters off to get it into Nuetral if the shifters won’t get it into Nuetral.

This is assuming that the clutch and pressure plate are able to rotate inside the bell housing and are not jammed against the interior wall somehow.

So you lifted it on since it would not roll.
It rolls perfectly with the transmission in neutral.

Got the fender pulled away from the High/low shifter so that’s working. All shifters function normal. Main shifter, shuttle and range shifter.

Put another battery in it last night and got nothing. Have to do some electrical troubleshooting.

Well I hooked up a good battery and checked some connections with a meter. Everything looked good at the key switch so I got on it pushed in the clutch and hit the key, started turning over and about 10 seconds started sputtering. Increased the throttle to about halfway and tried again, few seconds it fired right up.

Checked it over as it idled for a few minutes then drove around the yard. All gears work but it appears that the PTO will not disengage with the clutch.

Is OEM the way to go for this clutch or aftermarket? I will probably have it apart before I order clutch parts anyway. I can still use it for now just without a PTO attachment, definitely needs cleaning before I would start to dissemble it.
