My 2001 L3010 GST manual recommends I use SUDT hyd oil. A Kubota exclusive product. But, man is that stuff expensive!! Can I use regular UDT? Or is there another product out there that is equivalent to SUDT that doesn't cost $25.00 a gallon?
Thanks

I believe there was a recent thread on this; oil threads tend to get testy.

I have used various brands of lubricants in our tractors.

I'm quietly laughing at your understatement!

For me, I pay 16k for a tractor and look at the difference between the cost of SUDT and NAPA fluids over say ten years and discover that the savings is not significant. I do far more stupid things with some of my money than purchase the best lubricants for my rolling stock.

Each to his own.

I'm so used to facebook, I was looking for the like button; I agree. Over the life of the tractor, what's a few bucks difference when you can use the fluid that was engineered for the tractor? That's what I use, instead of trying to figure out, at my liability, what will work in its place.

Like I said I need to stay away from these threads as I have read and deleted several responses. On one similar thread someone said essentially that some think Kubota fluids contain "pixie dust and Unicorn tears".:)

As long as we are comfortable with what we use, I guess we are OK.

I look at it like this, its your machine put in the fluids you feel the need to stick in there and hope it works out. Whatever oil you choose the smartest thing you can do is change it when its recommended to change and keep the oil fresh.

My dad used to drill this saying into my head when I was a kid and I still hear it today as an adult. "Grease is cheap and parts are expensive"
