This is the second time I've had this happen in two years. That is, all of a sudden, I get a very high pitch from the front of the engine compartment area, and a slow down in speed. The engine RPM doesn't seem to change. The temperature gauge on my L2501HST is in the normal range. Note: it is hilly .... I live in MT. ;)

Maybe, I overheated the transmission from working it hard with my grader/scraper.

I didn't check the hydrostatic fluid level, so maybe it's just that. Any way, if you have ideas, let's have them.

I'd go with checking fluid levels first.

You mention that "this is the second time", so what were you doing the first time and did you check the hydraulic fluid level after the first occurrence?

I didn't do anything. I wasn't sure what I was feeling, and the next time I used it, it was acting normally.

Overheated trans fluid. Spend a good 20 min blowing all the separate coolers out. Blow air from the rad forward. The hst and power steering put a lot of heat in the fluid.

Suggest an air comb

Possibly make sure you 3PH isn't maxed out in the up position. If so see if backing it off just a little does the trick. Sometimes if the hydraulic system is already working to keep it topped out, it will rob hydraulic power from the rest of the system.
