Good Evening All,
Just got my L3560 open station tractor a few weeks ago and took it to the property I have where I am trying to do some clearing of trees. I saw a video of a guy using a TITAN Attachments Root Bucket to pull up a 14" Diameter stump. Does anyone have any experience using these? How effective are they for pulling up freshly cut pine tree stumps that range up to about 18" in diameter. All comments appreciated...thanks in advance!!

They work very well on small stuff, much better than a bucket. You will not have any fun with an 18" stump.

I used one for a while on a tracked skid-steer that had a lot more weight and HP than my tractor has. Anything above 6-8" was still a chore.

Like NHSleddog mentioned, they work way better on a skid steer then they do with a mid sized tractor, just isn't enough weight.

Pulling trees or stumps depends on the ground conditions and make up more than anything, I have sand and pine tree stumps when small aren't too bad, but an 18" pine will stop you dead in your tracks!

Last time I cut down a big spruce that got windstorm damage, it was about 20" in diameter at the base and I wanted the stump as well as the tree gone so I cut the tree off about 8 feet off the ground, choked a chain at the top and pulled it over with the tractor and out. The trunk made a dandy lever. Popped it right out. Had to backfill the hole though.

That is an interesting thought... I was thinking about an "A" framed lever to use. What size tractor and length of chain did you use?

M9000 of course. I own 2. Both FWA, one cab, one open station.

I have an L4060, LA805 with stump bucket grapple. I've taken down red maple, spruce, and cedar, but pine stumps are the worst. Doable, but you will end up with a big hole to fill. Start digging a few feet away from the stump to break the roots off. Go all the way around the stump, then work your way in. Knock off as much dirt as you can. Try to get the bucket under the stump, then push it forward slowly while raising the bucket. Be careful not to overload the FEL, if the stump is loose it will move and you're usually good to go. If it doesn't budge, keep breaking roots and knocking off dirt.

The easiest is to take down a full tree. Use leverage and weight to your advantage. Cut the roots on either side of the tree and the side you will push against to knock it down. Push the tree as high up as you can while keeping your front wheels on the ground. Watch the root ball when you push, it will pop up.

I've cleared about an acre over the past year, with no visible damage/tweaking of the FEL.
