As I was sliding backwards, I did press reverse pedal , but still getting use to pedal design for the B, so might not have been pressing hard enough. Has anyone tried these? https://www.rubbertirechains.com/product/33x12-50-15-tire-chains/
i put something similar on my dads 2wd Deere and seemed to work ok.
I bought a set of those for my L47 with R4 tires. They did little to nothing as the bars settled into the gaps on the tread. They may work better on turf tires, I have no experience there. Best of luck!

How is rubber straps any different than rubber tires for traction on slippery surfaces? Sounds more like a gimmick to me.
I use the rubber chains on a garden tractor with a cab and two stage snowblower, they do nearly as well as the steel chains used previously. Those rubber straps tilt out a bit and grab rather well. The one thing that is a potential problem is they have no lateral grip, so sliding sideways on a tilted surface is a real possibility.

The rubber straps used on a turf tire will basically add a low height lug, which could be helpful in snow, but not ice, I'd still prefer steel ...

Using the 2-link ladder chains on rear only. Hindsight. Thinking either the 2-link square v. twist link or diamond pattern might be a better choice for harder icy conditions. The diamond giving some lateral traction.

Driveway after the first snow clearing is a hard, smooth but slippery surface. Needed the studded boots to walk down to the mailbox. For the BX/ Doubt if I could make it uphill without chains. Thought crossed the old brain that I should invest in a front set of chains. Looked to see if there are any diamond grid or 2-link square v. twist chain available for the small SCUT front tires (18 x8.5-10s). So far, no luck.

The V-bar style I showed in post #12 help with lateral sliding ...

Here are your front tires sized chains 2 or 4 link ladder, of H style ... They say JD, but tires size is same as yours, and my MF too ... https://www.tirechainsrus.com/produ...t-tractors/?attribute_pa_full-size=18-8-50-10

Make sure if your gonna put them on the front, that you have enough clearance ...

Here are some V-bar, I haven't ordered from this place, but have from the 1st link ... https://tirechain.com/18x8-5x10-heavy-duty-v-bar-tire-chains-set-of-2/

Nope, yotes learn to stay away ... Both electric and firearms are good training tools for them, and stray dogs ... I did loose the tiger to raccoons fighting over the feeder, but raccoons population got reduced, they make good tree fertilizer, I buried 7 of them! and 11,500 volts of electricity keeps them away now!

I buy my chains from these guys, they look like what my brother has, not cheap, but good! https://www.tirechainsrus.com/produ...r-tire-chains/?attribute_pa_full-size=11-2-16
Great source. You can learn just about everything there is to know about tire chains by reading the wealth of information on their site.

Great people to deal with, too. I've bought several sets of tire chains from tirechains.com as well as parts, etc.

I saw the H chain, but the price was more than hoped for. Good option v. diamond pattern.

Clearance has me thinking maybe studs. Have a few 1.? x 6- 12 ft long carpet remanent strips. Thinking maybe useful for a floor mat to prevent stud damaging the garage concrete surface. Just hot glue them down to prevent movement. Hot glue is easy to remove. Bond dissolves with a bit of isopropyl alcohol.

Are the V bar design hard on garage concrete floors? If not might be a good option to diamond for lateral grip needed in steering on slippery surfaces. Plus no need for a running start even over cleared surfaces to make it up the steeper pitch at the top of the driveway when ice slippery.

Rear 2 link ladder chains are from tirechain.com. Time will tell if quality product. Fast shipping. Guessing all these chain are probably made in China or somewhere in Asia and probably from a limited number of factories. Didn't notice anyone claiming "Made in the USA". Like my tube of Blistex. Until you look at the fine print on the box "of imported components". Assembled in the USA might be a better label.

I don't park mine in the garage, but have driven them on the concrete pad in front of it, no marks left at all ... I did spin a tire trying to plow the snow on my concrete front walkway, which is too narrow for my tractor, so one side was on the lawn, other up on the concrete which is higher, I did start to spin as I was cockeyed and it left a tiny mark on my 30 year old stained concrete ...

I can still see the mark, I'll be home this week end, I could take a picture if you would like?

On my dad’s 2wd tractor they worked great . Without them he couldn’t make up a slight slope, tires would just spin Even when rear was locked. They are rough riding though, like driving on rumble strips.

I replaced my stiff tires with cheap 2 ply and keep the inflation pressure low to make the ride more tolerable. The straps are just too far apart and they should come up with something to add between them.

Getting back to the added weight question, remember that every pound added is a pound you need to move uphill and slow or stop downhill. So it is a traction versus weight balance that begs the question: "Are you feeling lucky today?"

They make both 2 & 4 side link spacing versions ... Not sure what you have ... https://www.rubbertirechains.com/product/26x12-00-12-tire-chains/

But ladder style chains by nature are a bumpy ride ... On hard surfaces.

I prefer to be on the heavy side, even if I gotta use low range ...
