I was mowing a flat field with a bush hog when the hitch failed. At the end of a pass, I went to lift the mower with the three-point hitch, but when I looked back, I noticed it was tilted. After dismounting to inspect it, I saw that the left side that was holding the lift arm gear to the bar had come off, causing the failure.

You'd think that if this part failed in under a year, it would be under a manufacturer warranty. Right? I'm told not, but I've had a dealer try and wiggle out of it before so I'm just asking.. thoughts?, What to expect for dealer costs?

Since the hitch wouldn’t stay in place, I detached the mower, left it in the field, and used a chain to secure the lift arm for transport. I then carefully drove the tractor back to the barn.

I would think warranty would apply to that but maybe it expired ?

If you have KTAC insurance due to financing the tractor that would cover it for sure. That might be what the dealer is stating (just not plainly).

I get if you look you'll find this part (below in yellow) is bent or missing bolts.
It's not a warranty issue
This happens from too much side load on the arms.
Loose check chains can cause this.
Your going to need a new arm, a new bracket, and possibly new rock shaft.

If you get lucky, and you just need a arm and bracket, you could easily do the work yourself and save some serious money.
Lift Arm $209
Bracket $14

If your mechanically adept, you could do the rockshaft too, you'll just need to pull the cylinder to do it.
Rock shaft $250

I think you forgot to highlight the “yellow”- which is probably #150/160

And that falls under the “abuse” clause of the warranty?

(please delete this post when you fix it!)

yeesh, I zoomed up the damaged area and it looks, with my bad eyes, that the 'shaft' #070 might be damaged as well ?? Hopefully not.........I assume it's solid and 'bad lighting'......

To me, it looks like the 070 shaft snapped, or.....the spline on the left side of 070 just stripped

The bracket #150 is bent over and is whats holding the LH arm.
The rockshaft has slid to the RH side.
Remove the bolts from the plate going through the splined hole in the LH arm, slide the shaft back to the left, and put the arm back on the rockshaft. It must be parallel with the right side.
I use a piece of 3/16" thick strap about 1 1/2" or 2" wide. Drill two holes in it using the original plate as a pattern. The plate mounts 1/4 turn from the original plate, as it has the feedback link connected to it.
This, with longer bolts, goes over the original plate to help support it.

Did you hit anything with your tail wheel while turning?
