Very enjoyable.... old world craftsmen doing it without the newfangled CNC machining centers.... some great old, large equipment too. I've run some bigger stuff, but not by much. Thanks for posting.

Yes indeed thank you for posting,, One OLD mine I use to inspect when I first started inspecting over 30 years ago, had a shop, and 2 old timers that did everything there and machines that where as big as a house it seemed. One had been there 40 some years and the other almost 50, and yes they were brothers and their Father taught them the trade in that mine shop. It was sad to see those machines go for scrap, hell maybe some part of my little Bouta has some of those old machines in it

Cool stuff, always prefer to do things on manual machines if I can though sometimes there is no substitute for the CNC. I do question their safety procedures though. Leather gloves and long sleeves working on a lathe? That's a recipe for missing digits and limbs if not worse.

I like ole' Tom there. Guys like that are always a treasure trove of experience and good stories. I'd love to apprentice under him for a few months!

Heheh I've still got all mine but not for lack of trying. The lathe ripped my glove off the other day. Had I been wearing anything but the neoprene gloves I wear for that reason it would have crunched my hand up without missing a beat.

I've said it all along that technology can take us but so far. People are so dependant on computers these days they wouldn't know what to do if they lost all that. That shop in Texas is proof you don't need technology to survive.
