A lady down the road from us asked me if I would chunk up some hardwood logs that were hauled out and left beside the dirt road we live on for a couple years. I can tell you that after the snowplow and grader not to mention just traffic going by it was very hard on my chains. It was almost like the chainsaw in one hand and the sharpener in the other even after rolling the logs that I could over so I could start my cut on the bottom side so yeah I'm all for keeping the logs as clean as possible. They do make the same thing with a winch and even 2 if needed but the bottom line is, if you're logging, you're working.

I have a hand crank boat winch on the front that works well.
