well i got the little bota running today its amazing what happens when it has enough juice lol. runs good sounds good hydraulics work pto works the clutch is frozen together though gotta see whats up with that next then make a parts list and start collecting anyone have good parts resources let me know i need a steering box in a bad way and short on funds so i may have to wait awhile cuz this thing needs a lotta lovin.

Unfortunately, steering boxes are expensive for these little tractors. If there is anyway possible, I would try to fix the one you have. I used JB weld on about six inches of cracks on mine rather than buy a new one; it is still holding gearoil and working properly.
The clutch seems to stick to the flywheel quite often on Kubotas for some reason, if you do a search for "sticking clutch" or "stuck clutch" you should come up with a few ideas. We unstuck mine by pulling it with a pickup and repeatedly pressing the clutch pedal. It didn't seem to hurt anything, I am still using it three years later.

thanks robert this box is totally busted the bottom completely gone the previous owner had taken it apart so unfortunately the pieces are long gone the little jewel sounds great though im happier than a fat kid eating cake! ill just save up my pennies and find one around somewhere when it comes to saving money i am a very patient man haha! it needs a lot of maintainence we got a long winter comin so i got time thanks again for your help.
Check out West Kentucky Tractor Parts, they are a junk yard for old Kubotas and just may have a steering box your looking for.

I drove up to Gatlinburg this weekend and saw a tractor junkyard on the side of the road. Stoped and looked around, they were closed, Sun, I saw several kubotas. There was a large section behind a fence with much more. I did see several fel's off the tractor.

What did you have to do to get it to start...? Did you find some loose wires, or did it just need a little lovin and time to get her going.
Did she smoke a little then clear up?

i think it was a mixture of the battery cable not getting enough juice to everything and i had to crank it a bit the next day to get it started again but i had left the bleeder a little loose so it lost its prime and we got rain today so i havent been able to mess with it anymore i got it wrapped up in a tarp right now lol ill keep ya informed as to its progress and post more pics soon when ive done something worth seeing

Dont worry, mine has been under a tarp for weeks now, broke engine block at front frame attatchment point.
i've got the whole front end off, axles all off (4x4) and split on each side of differential and gears pulled.
I also have a broke front pinion gear that will be replaced if it cant be welded (welder has it now, seeing what he can do)
hood, front "frame", battery, radiator, EVERYTHING...
I did degrease it good, presure washed the heck out of the engine and the front axle parts.
I've got a good idea of how i want to put my subframe together and weld/bolt it up, so i can still "split" the tractor if needed.
Just waiting on the welder, the funds and time to do it...
so, i feel your pain, but understand your joy at the same time....

wow winniecouple thats rough sorry to hear that mine dont seem so bad now good luck with her hope it dont cost a whole bunch to fix i know what ya mean about funds though i been out of work for a cpl months. after i get mine fixed up i gotta hunt down some implements thats gonna get expensive im sure talk to ya soon.

Yep, cant just buy the pinion gear, have to get the "set"... so theres $600...
plus the new O-rings for the front axle housings, and lube....
metal should only be a couple hundred, and i'll finally have an excuse to "borrow" dads torch and welder... so all in all, I dont think it will be that bad.
Look on craigslist for implements... I see stuff all the time that are really priced well, just give them a REAL good look over before you buy them.
OH... dont get suckered into buying new tires, just for looks, if they hold air, run them bald... I've seen ugly old dry rotted tires last for 20 years or more of HARD work. (pump a few pumps of green slime in them and dont look back).
Then, when we get all the bugs worked out, and do all the hard stuff we have to do (and get them scratched up a bit)... and our personal economy picks back up..... then we can paint them, maybe get new tires, and check prices on "new" tracors, and see how much we've saved ourselves....!!!
well i did some calling around today about my steering box these people have bumped there heads!!!! ive tried all the parts places on the forum and cant find a one that has just the housing they all want to sell the whole box id really like to find a good used housing that i can rebuild somebody help!!!! id really like to find a housing that they dont want the price of a whole tractor for.

take your time... it might take DAYS of looking. (or longer).
then again, if you just get the housing, and its the wrong one... you might have been better off to get the whole box... some parts are different designs but function the same (as a whole)... but pieces from one will not fix another.
Like the gear drive for some tractors tachometer have a lube port, mine does not... go figure.
Some things you can get buy with "used".... but if it something that wears, your better off getting new or "rebuilt". Google the part for your tractor, then try simular versions of your tractor bigger or smaller... lots of parts are common to many sizes of your tractor or even different brands of tractor (for some parts like exhaust and common items).
You may have to shell out some coin for what you want, but in the end, you get that item FIXED and go on to the next thing to fix... either way, your still not making a payment on a $30+,000.00 tractor..!!! (give or take)
thanks winniecouple i know im just freaking out a little lol sticker shock sucks i cant complain at all really i will keep searching but ive worn google ebay craiglist out today i wish i had a truckload of good steering boxes i could retire!!! lol if it wasnt for the steering shaft running through the fuel tank i think i could fabricate a 70 chevy truck box to work oh well the saerch continues......... oh and i hear ya on the payment thats why i drive a 15+ year old truck

Like in my case, I'm not getting a new engine block, just to put it back "like it was"... I'm modifying the HELL out of mine.
You could put a Pirate Ship steering wheel on it if you can make it work...!!!
