Recently acquired this mower and need advice on issue of starting and motor surging along with RPM's at full throttle. The Throttle works fine mechanically however as your moving it there seems to be a sluggish response or lack of response. At full throttle the mower doesnt seem to have the RPM's that it should. When Idling the engine has a steady slow surging up and down?
All ideas and help appreciated as Im new to the Bota TG mower?

clean the carburetor thoroughly; meaning completely remove all of the jets including the one in the top, dunk them all in carb soak for a few hours, blow through them, run a strand of electrical wire through them, reassemble and replace all the gaskets.

Likely to run into some issues with removal and reinstallation. That engine is "famous" for being tough to do carb work on.

I'd also highly recommend replacing the fuel pump while you're going to be in there. Original style had a weep hole, new style has a nipple that has a hose on it. The original style, when the pump failed, fuel would drip from the weep hole and of course it'd drip right down onto the muffler. The newest style has the hose and nipple so that you route the weep drain hose along the frame away from the hot muffler.

My post is just to add a couple of small details to Lugbolts post.

First is the carb page from the WSM.

The second is a photo of an actual carb but NOT your carb but very similar.

The carb problem area with your symptoms is often the tiny holes in the emulsion tube labelled A in the photo. A fine wire is needed to poke these holes clean.

Getting access to this tube requires unscrewing jet labelled B which has a slot for a flat screwdriver.

This jet is brass and you can easily destroy the screwdriver slot. Get a set of replacement tips for a screwdriver and find the largest flat one which will just fit in the jet slot. Press down hard and turn to unscrew the jet.

I use a torch tip cleaner .... works perfectly for this.
