Tach for a BX1500...How done?

In general there would be a drive on the engine that then spins a cable that the connects to a tachometer- assuming you have an older Diesel engine

If your tractor doesn’t have this from the factory I would go with the TinyTach that NIW linked you to since it would be easier and probably more economical.

If you are handy with simple electronics and can do minor mechanical fabrication for the sensor mount, you could go with the one NIW posted for EBAy. I installed that one, with the magnet glued to the flywheel, and the sensor mounted so that the magnet passes very close to it on every revolution of the flywheel. Has worked very well for over a year, and the price is right.
