Lately while getting my RDA of tractor time, I've been envisioning a front mounted landscape rake. I like the idea of being able to push my debris around in the front of the tractor rather than running over it first while trying to groom from behind.

I also like the idea of being able to easily articulate the "rake" of the rake with the loader controls, like I can when backdragging.

Is this a thing? I've run across just one that mounts via SSQA and it was kinda pricey. Maybe one that mounts in a hitch receiver and could be used in front or back?

I've never owned or used one, so maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree?

You could probably adapt a rake to a SSQA plate. I think it would require more attention in use than a 3pt because of the additional weight of the loader arms. I think you'd need to adjust the bucket height as you go over undulations.

I've found my clam-shell grapple to be useful for raking. You can adjust the aggressiveness to some extent, and the lid can pull stuff away from obstructions that you can't get to otherwise. But I'm not landscaping, this method would be a little rough on fine turf.

Good day.

for what you describe, maybe consider some debris forks that clamp on to your bucket. 🤷‍♂️

If you buy an actual landscape implement I believe the blade (comb) swings around 180 so you can push the debris in reverse without driving over it. (Check the make and model)

Check out this boobtube link. At the about the 4 minute mark he mentions float not working and having to fiddle with the loader control to get it to work right. Maybe something with heavy duty wheels would let you use the float function.

Did that. Somewhere I posted when I fabricobbled it. I had a Harbor Freight QA sitting in a shed for maybe 20 years that was never used for anything. Used a chain so it can be used with light pressure and using the FEL "dump" it can really bear down.

Nice heavy rake you got there, I like that it can pivot to follow the terrain.

Noticed that you can't rotate the rake 180 - do you drive backwards? Seems if you drive forwards and catch it on something immovable it would tend to want to "fold" under the loader arms (maybe the chain stops that). Also do you use the wheels in the background?

That attaches to the back of the tractor.
He wants to put the rake on the front.
Here's one that goes on the front ...

And chim's looks like you still gotta drive over whatever you're raking ... But at least you have a better view!

Nice unit but $1,500 with tax is pretty steep. Even though my welds look like my 3-year old grandson used Elmer's glue I'd get a SSQA plate for $150 and a HF quick hitch for $140 and fab it up like Chim did. I really like the "pivot" feature.

I did that for a front blade off a Craftsman lawn tractor using a HF bolt-on 2" hitch mount, works like a charm for snow. Looking at adding some kind of actuator for angling the blade this summer.

Get the rake attached to a SSQA so you can use it moving forward and put some skids at the bottom of the SSQA. Then the loader can be used in float and the rake can be adjusted with curl/dump adjustments on the loader

Mine doesn't rotate more than that plate with holes allows. If I want to use it going forward it's a matter of unhooking it and putting it on the TPH in lieu of the QA. The rake has been around for a while and was always used on the rear of one of the tractors. It never worked well when "pushed" against the normal direction. I tried that unsuccessfully a few times in an attempt to push gathered debris onto piles when it was on the TPH

I removed the wheels, but they can be reinstalled if it ever becomes necessary. They were only marginally useful for my tasks and weren't on long enough arms to swivel 360°.

The front mount serves two purposes:

First, I want to drag debris back out of the fence row. Hanging out in front allows me to do that without taking the Kubota too far into the brush.

Secondly I have finish grading to do and pulling it with the tractor in reverse lets me watch what it's doing. I did a little of that before Winter arrived with a vengeance. The rotation was plenty to gather stones and trash windrowing it as made the final passes.

I've done it...
Don't waste your time and money.
On a tractor they become very unruly way out there.
Except when use in reverse, like @chim uses it.
But if you really wanna try it, order an SSQA plate and go to Harbor freight and buy a three point QH.
You can weld tabs on the SSQA plate to accept the QH or simply weld the QH to the plate.

I'll consider the weight, thanks. I could make extensive use out of a grapple too. Maybe one day...

Helpful, thanks. The one I had run across before had wheels.

Thanks for sharing. I like the "hinge" and the chain features.

Pulling stuff away from fence rows or similar would get used often here.
