hey y'all
First off im new to the site so thanks to everyone for the info
second im new to the whole kubota realm so i might post on here alot!

Alight my issue is i am the only mechanic here at our shop and i have a couple of street/parking lot sweepers that are running V1505 kubota. The older of the two has just about 4800 hrs on it and it just pretty much ahd a whole top end rebuild done to it, to include a new head and all new gaskets. kept the old injectors but gave them new copper seals. now my problem is that she smokes alot but its not white smoke, its almost as if its putting to much fuel into the chamber and its burning it out via the exhaust. my questions are:
1. What could be causing this?
2. what can i do to fix it?
3. is it gonna hurt the engine if it continues to run like this?

thanks guys

What color is the smoke?
Is there any smoke / blow by coming from the breather tube?
Yes excessive smoking means something is wrong, and can lead to a whole world of problems.

its black and blueish color and smells like fuel (that tinjing feeling in the back of your throut) . and no there is no excessive and very little smoke if any at times coming out of the breather tube. i didnt know if because it smelled like fuel that maybe it was just excess fuel being burnt off that it would be ok. any idea of what i can do to maybe fix this problem? thanks wolfman

Did this start after the head job? If so, maybe valve lash is out, injection timing out, wrong head gasket causing lowered compression. If the injectors have 4800 hrs on them then they should be overhauled. A lot of things can cause excessive smoke especially after things have been apart.

no it did this before the rebuild. it was rebuilt cause of a blown head gasket and cracked head. the way this was discovered was it had oil in the coolant and was losing about 1-1 1/2 quarts of oil a day. kman would you just recomend new injectors or just rebuild them? and i dont think it was the wrong gasket cause we got them straight from kubota using model and serial number off the motor. now i know that dosent mean its always gonna be the right part but still.... i even went as far as to retourque the head bolts after letting it get hot and cooling down 3 times... i really hope we can get this figured out cause the other machine is about to break down cause of all the hrs it has due to running all the time and not gettting a break cause this one the other one has been down for three months waiting on parts to finish the rebuild

You should have a injector rebuild shop there, take them in have them tested and if need rebuilt and the rebuild price is less than the $77 each new price, get them rebuilt. ;)

I've had mixed luck with rebuilds but more good than poor. If there is any way you could post a video it would sure help with diagnosis. Have you checked the compression?

Im sorry i dont have the ability to post a video but we just ordered new injectors to i guess we will see how that works. the only reason i ordered new ones instead of having them rebuilt or rebuilding them myself is cause it was the same price to have them rebuilt which really sucks but oh well....
ill keep yall updated on how it works out

One missed aspect of diesel engines is that they take a different rated oil than a gas motor, There have been several cases of this recently.
What oil and weight are you using in the engines?

Not trying to butt in, but . I am sure you checked the oil level in the crankcase ,but that is one of the easiest things to overlook and it can cause issues such as black smoke if it gets into the combustion chamber past the piston rings. It can also cause diesel runaway. I know because it just happened to me.
