Same setup as you had on the inlet but put a valve between the tee and the port. See pucture below.

Open the valve, start the tractor, snd observe pressure as you gradually close the valve. If the pump is working you will get to 2500 PSI before the valve is fully closed.

I just picked up a valve and fittings to test my pump. Do I only check pump psi at idle, or do I need to check at max rpm as well?

Both. It will give you an indication of how much slip the pump is exhibiting.

Whoops - this is direct pump test so just full speed

Time to tske it out and have a look at it. Pumps dont usually fail quickly. Have a good look at the drive mechanism to make sure its not slipping under load

Dan
I got time yesterday to remove the pump finally. What are you saying to inspect with the drive mechanism? The splines are all good and nothing is sloppy on the pump or the drive side that I can get to with the pump removed.
The drive shaft on the pump spins very easily by hand with no resistance.

First - are you sure you removed the correct pump?

The implement pump is a tandem (dual) pump and should not spin "very easily".

Yes i removed the correct pump, which is the tandem pump that you are referring to.
I didn’t believe that it should spin so easily.

We cioered just about everything possible leading up to and including a direct pressure test of the pump. If you are confident that was all done correctly the pump is all thats left. Just seems odd it failed that suddenly. Can you tell if both pumps are spinning in synch when you turn the input shaft?

I installed a new pump and my problems are fixed!
How many hours until I should change the hydraulic filters after putting the new pump on?
Excellent!!! I was cringing at the thought of a new pump and no fix. Did you buy the OEM pump?

I see no reason to change the fluid ahead of the normally scheduled date.

I believe it’s OEM. I got it from messicks.
