Any one here currently doing or thinking of a side hustle?
I've got a large 99% empty barn on my property and thinking of something practical to use it for beside storing junk.
Looking for idea's that can generate a little extra income (I work full-time) but don't break the bank to start up?

I will tell you want I don't want, loads of strangers on my property so nothing direct sales focused.

Let's hear what you're doing or your idea's!

Great questions, you know I have really put some thought into this and come up blank.
I think I'd like to work with my hands and be somewhat creative, I have always enjoyed working with wood..

Do you have a lot of land? Do you work it? IS it flat? One of my neighbors leased his land to use as a solar farm....... Free electricity and tens of thousands a month for doing nothing to a piece of land he was doing nothing with.

I used to board horses in my extra stalls and outdoor runs.

I'm on 5 acres and it is conservation area, so I am limited as to what I can build on it, plus a little small for that. But an excellent idea..

Funny that is what my property started out as (many years before I purchased it) while I like horses, I have never worked with them..
To board, you just have to feed, water, and clean up manure. You don’t have to ride them. But you do need to have a large pen or pasture so they can exercise.

Sadly the fencing around the perimeter of my property fell into disrepair (years before I purchased it) While I plan on fixing it, it will be slow going as it is nowhere near the top of the list..

It depends on how much you want a side hustle. Horse people will pay good money for boarding.
Yep…must be true. My neighboring property-owner has approx 30 acres and he built a horse-barn and boards horses for rich doctors in the Austin area. (One of them is an orthopedic surgeon..…and ironically, last fall he fell off his horse, which then stepped on him and gave him a compound leg fracture. The EMS-helicopter landed on my turf runway, which is about 200 yds from where the accident occurred. (unmute the video if you like)

The wife has an Etsy business in 1/4 of our garage. Keeps her busy and we get tax write off benefits. She can't hardly keep up with orders. Makes signs and mugs and stuff, heat press and sublimation.

Here's her setup.

Wow, that is an excellent set up. I was thinking of something along the same lines. Something I can create and ship on etsy etc. I have a few idea's but wanted to see what others are doing..

Since I am the equipment mechanic for a municipality for my 9-5, I dabble with small engine repair. At home or mobile. Mostly do oil changes and belt replacement on riding mowers, pretty easy stuff as I’m sorta picky. Have a service this week on a newer L3902. Also work on 2 stroke engines.

If your barn is large enough consider storing cars over the winter. Where I store mine, they charge $17 per foot for the entire winter with a $100 minimum. Some places charge a flat rate per car per month. Lots of different ways to skin this cat.

Marriage has fallen out of favor with the younger generation. They realized how expensive a gold ring can get when things go south. As the old expression goes, "why buy the cow when the milk if free".
