[There’s pics of my shop, lift, etc going back a few years. A couple months ago I added a 48’x16’ lean to off one side.

Yes, it’s now full of Kubota implements, the SxS, ladders, lots of large bulky stuff I want to keep out of the weather, under cover but doesn’t have to be inside.

That's a parts cleaner.
Yup, brain malfunction, I meant PARTS washer. Sigh. Getting old. :)
i like that old heavy iron, and I guess steampunk too.
I know a woman who just about lives steampunk, only in her case, she calls it steampink.

Nice addition. For those of you weren't lucky enough to go to the Kubota meet a few years ago, bearskinner has a very nice place.

While making some parts for another project, I realized I didn't have a 5C collet stop long (deep?) enough for a set of (5) 10" long matching parts. I could measure them individually, touch off and cut them each separately, but I realized there was an easy-to-make alternative collet stop.
Went to the stash and found a piece of 3/4" hot roll barstock of suitable length, and a stub remnant of black poly-acetal plastic.
Cleaned the bar up, and bored the plastic for a press fit on the hot roll bar. Then I turned the plastic (using the bar as a mandrel) for a slip fit for the through hole in the lathe headstock. Then I used one of my headstock spiders (for long barstock support) to capture the outboard end of the hot roll bar. Simple matter to indicate it in and clamp it, and I can adjust it for different length parts if need be.
The plastic supports the inboard end of the stop, and the spider supports the outboard end.

I got to try out this light tower on my last trip to the cabin:
It worked great, except for one annoying problem. The cord hangs straight down from the light, and tends to get tangled or in the way of the casters. Not a big fault, but irritating.
So I added this extension hook to move the hanging cord out away from the casters. Initial tests look good. Might have to add a clip or zip tie to keep the cord in the hook.

Very much low-tech, but I got one of those Bora Centipede foldable work tables last year.

Just the little 2'x4' version. Folds up into a bag about the size a collapsible lawn chair would fit in. Not cheap, but very handy.

The amount of use I get out of it surprises me. I have it set up most weekends, and can fold it up in a few seconds.

Bill - they say they're rated for 1,000 pounds plus.

In practice, limited by whatever you put on them as a top, and frame under that top.

I only posted because I do use it much more than expected.

It's been very handy, while portable and easily stored.

Wow, I'm jealous! Looks well organized, and I love the under stairs storage!
What is that beautiful redwood cabinet? Looks like a shaper table I built once, but a lot prettier!

plywood cabinet, oak trimmed cedar for drawer fronts. Kreg sells $10 dvd w/plans to build it. Designed my own lock mechanisms.

Stairs: 8 hinges, remove pins and drill out to 1/4". 1/4" piano wire for new hinge, homemade HD piano hinge, 90 or so screws hold it on.

When I bought my Hardinge lathe, it came with a homemade steady rest. Well, most of a steady rest. Two of the three supports were missing. I had actually forgotten that I had it until I recently used a steady rest at work. I dug it out and made a new set of supports with brass tips.

Lil Foot,

You win!!!

OMG! How do you move a machine as heavy as that lathe?

That is truly an awesome! home shop. I'll have to come over for some "lathe lessons."

A lady down the street lost her husband. After three years, she decided to unload his garage of tools. I needed a couple of his machines but she told me, "If you can pick this lathe and milling machine up and get it out of here, its yours. I ended up paying her for the "chickenese" lathe and small milling machine. I have yet to use them but have a few "80%" projects, if you know what I mean.

:)
After decades of working on dirt floors and outside on the ground I gave myself this as a retirement present. I dubbed it The GarajMahal and its 3000sf of heated bliss. The Cincinatti mill is my pride and joy and checks in a biscuit short of 9K lbs. A couple old Rockwell lathes and an assortment of other metalworking machines keep it company. There is a two post lift in the middle bay because I am now too old and lazy to lay on my back under cars and trucks.

The machines work for their keep and things are now much more cluttered and a whole lot dirtier....

Thanks - I had to cede a portion of one bay to my other half but I put a HDTV and my Onkyo stereo system in there "for her" entertainment and I get the benefit when shes not there 😉

Unconventional milling setup.
Mill was setup for a plate job, (no vise) so I milled it on the lathe:
