Finished the firebreak on the other side of the property, took quite a bit more effort on sunbaked dry ground but got it cut in pretty good (~15' wide). And are you ready for this?....Practiced digging a hole last week! Dug down a little over 10' to see what all the layers of earth looked like. I have about 4" of top soil, then some clay/say for couple feet, then hardpan about 1' to 2' thick, once I got through all of that it was fairly smooth digging, sand/clay (i think) with some river rock sprinkled about. Should have left the hoe IN the hole the last time i crawled down there....lesson learned, don't crawl into your freshly dug 10 foot hole with out rope/ladder/hoe (3 attempts to get out, almost a Darwin Award!).
