So this summer I bought a Frontier sb1164 rear snow blower. I couldn't pass it up due to the price and it was literally use once maybe twice..So I went to the JD dealership to buy some back up shear bolts..Well the dealership doesn't keep them in stock, which I thought was weird esp this time of the year.. Well it takes a week to get parts from Frontier..So I ended up ordering the back up shear bolts..So my question for you guys..Anyone know where I can get the shear bolts other than going to the dealership? (like online)..I went to the local hardware stores..Only carries for the walk behind blowers..

Just use cheap #2 bolts (blank head bolts, no slash marks), they will shear at close to the same force level as the shear pins. ;)

Well, I am not gonna sugar coat this! But slap your own hand! "bought it this summer"

I start winter prep in October and go for a full month of weekends working on the things that need to be ready for snow and then shutting down the things that sleep during the winter. (includes leaf removal)

I have four shearpins in my tool box in the garage. Plus other spare parts and I work for a orange dealer.

I watch people come in with their snowblowers two days before a major snowstorm in and want to have it back before and it won't start!

Find out the specifications needed for you snowblower (i.e. what type of bolt is supposed to be used), or look at the bolt the dealer is selling you and then purchase similar type bolts from the hardware store.

This link will provide you with all the information/knowledge you will need to get the correct bolt.
