From the report:

"Conclusion: As the testing indicates, AMSOIL Severe Gear ranked highest among all gear lubes tested. It was the only gear lube to score a 4 or better in all performance categories. The high ranking of AMSOIL Severe Gear clearly points......"

Clearly points to the fact that AMSOIL paid for the report. I'm not sure if Amsoil is Amway but both are Multilevel Marketing Schemes. It seems likely that Amsoil products are quality but......

These oil/lube discussions quickly turn into dogfights. Use a good quality, properly rated oil/lube and refresh according to maintenance guidelines and oil/lube will never be your problem.

Generally, I agree with you. I believe that Amsoil is a high quality product- that is pretty undisputed. I don't use it, because I have faith in other lubes, in conjunction with the more favorable prices. I don't justify the higher costs of Amsoil.
I do have a problem with a report put together by a party that is involved in the report. I put more trust in a tester that has no dog in the fight.

Having been an Amsoil dealer for around 10 years I can say that Amsoil is honest with their testing of oils. They post up actual test results and I have seen on many tests where Amsoil was 3rd or 4th in quality in their own test results.

They are a quality product I use them religiously, "The way they are intended to be used" for extended use oil changes and do frequent oil sample testing. For those not willing to use them the way they are intended to be used then yes it is a money waster but under the correct use they save a lot over time.

Do I use other products? Yes I am a strong advocate for petro canada and Schaeffers products as well. I am only an end user of these products but they are high quality as well.

Every company has strong and weak product lines.

Amsoil isn't afraid to show the results weather or not they are the best.
For that I tip my hat to the company.

It always tickles me that the ones who argue the hardest against Amsoil are the ones that really don't (never used Amsoil products) have a dog in the fight. I'm thankful I was open minded enough to try something different. Where most say I'm doing it this way because that's how my Dad did it. I can say that I not only tried a new product but got Dad to switch over as well.

I find it is not Amsoil they argue about, it is the old school misconception rumors of synthetic oil in general they argue about via nothing more than hear say.

Over the course of the last 5 years that is changing as they are all seeing that almost every new piece of equipment comes from the factory with synthetics and only synthetics are recommended anymore. Then I break out my oil sample reports from my Dodge cummins with 30K miles on the engine oil without an oil drain and just full flow and bypass filter changes every 5k miles and top off the oil lost via filter change and over time it all gets changed. Samples look perfect yet.

I am saving tons of money in the long run as I never have to buy more than 2-3 quarts of oil every 5-10k miles.;)

In my 7.3 PS I gain enough extra MPG in 10,000 miles to more than pay for the oil change. I actually save money buying more expensive oil.

I don't understand people saying Amsoil is a Multilevel Marketing Scheme???

Amsoil makes oil, I need oil, I order oil and it's delivered to me. Where's the scheme? It seems really simple to me.

It is a multilevel "Pyramid" marketing company. Where do you buy it from?

You had to have signed up under someone else to become a dealer.

Yes, I have a sponcer and a direct jobber just like you if your a dealer. My point is that I can order from Amsoil without going thru anyone else and people say that's a scheme. I don't see where it's any different than going to walmart or a parts store and buying oil from them. It's not like walmart makes it's own oil. It's been sold thru multiple levels before a customer purchases it from them but somehow that's different.

Every little bit of oil you buy or sell makes you a wee bit of commision payback and as you follow your upline they each get a piece of every sale or purchase you make. If you would sign someone up under you you would be collecting a small commision from every sale or purchase folks would make under you.
This my friend is how it works and how the multilevel marketing works. ;)

Sounds like you could save about 20 bucks a year by just being a preferred customer versus a dealer as you must not be signing anyone up under you. Do you make enough sales or purchases to get your dealer fee back in commisions? If not I would drop down to being a preferred customer instead. You buy product at dealer cost but save 20 bucks a year on your renewal.

The higher you are in sales and downline say being a direct jobber ect. gets you product much cheaper than dealer costs even.
