I installed a light bar and used the 12v adapter to power it and it turns out the light bar draws 126w, which is slightly outside of the adapters range. We smelled a little electrical burn, but we can find no melting or charring anywhere and we did not blow a fuse. All electrical items still work.
But now the key will not turn to the start position; it is definitely locked out from something. It will only turn to the run position, where dash lights come on. Maybe the two things aren't even related, but before I take it in, I thought I would see if anyone else has experienced this.

Sounds like you burned the switch!
To run high wattage items you need a relay connected to the battery controlled by the key switch. ;)
