Got to use my 6200 HST for the first time with the snow blower the other day. Worked good with some quirks. At 2000 rpm and the slow position on the transmission, the forward is just fine, very easy to control the speed with the pedal. When I back up, it really jerks and goes much faster. I tried to be very careful not to press down to hard but it doesn't appear to make any difference.

Is there an adjustment to make to control this?

Thanks

Is, you'll need to get the WSM and adjust the linkage.

Kubotabooks.com has the WSM.

You should be running the engine a lot faster. The snowblower is designed for a 540 PTO RPM.

It goes faster in reverse. A lot of tractors go faster in reverse.

I have a L3540.

Does your tractor have the high low range on the steering column?

If it does I would run that in low range.

Negative! Only true in some older gear drive Transmissions, not HST's or GST or newer gear drive tractors, they are all set for slower reverse.

The only time a HST will be faster in reverse is if the linkage is maladjusted or there is an issue in the actual transmission.

On that tractor 2000 RPM engine speed is probably very close to 540 RPM on the PTO

One issue could be that the Snowblower is pulling too much HP and causing low hydraulic flow and erratic operation of the HST.

GBJeffOH, What transmission do you have?

I have a 2008 L3540 HST. It is the deluxe.

It has the 2 speed (H-DS Lever) on the steering column that you can shift while you are moving.

It also has 3 ranges that you stop to shift that.

It is pretty fast in reverse if the H-DS lever speed is in high.

I leave the range lever in medium unless I am driving down the road.

Thank You North Idaho Wolfman.

I guess it just seems faster in reverse.

It is not real unless i go to R-ML.

And yes it does seem faster because of the way it reacts to steering.
In reverse, you can whip the front end right around!
