I put restrictor valves on my flail mower tilt and shift cylinders which helped a lot. I'm wondering if I connected them right. The restrictor valve body has printing on it for the connections at each end - 1 at one end and 2 at the other end. Does it matter which end, 1 or 2, connects to the rear remote?

I am guessing that it does matter or why would they number them.

You can probably find information about the particular valve you have by searching for it by name and model number.

Again logic would be inlet would be #1 and outlet would be #2

Most restrictor valves have built-in check valves so they only throttle the flow in one direction. The documentation that came with them should tell you which end is which.

I don't have any info on it but will look into it when I get the make/model # off of it.
I'm wondering if because it's adjustable that it may be a needle rather than a check valve.

I may have been wrong about 'most'. Flow control valves are available in bi- and uni-directional control. The one shown below is a uni-, the check valve allows uncontrolled reverse flow, similar to our 3ph lowering speed control. The bi- doesn't have the check valve.

Would that type of valve (shown above with a check valve) work in a double acting cylinder system? I don’t think so since the tank return side would be blocked (if a valve is installed in both lines)

Yes it's free flow in the reverse direction.
So flow from 1 to 2 is restricted by the adjustment as the check valve is closed.
Flow 2 to 1 is unrestricted via the check valve being open.

Massive overkill and expense. All you need is these hydraulic adapters.. No guessing, no adjustment, no confusion.

Unless you get the restrictor fittings mixed up with regular fittings and install the restrictor in the incorrect position. NOT that I would do that

This what I have, it doesn't have a check valve so I'm assuming it restricts in both directions, which it does appear to do.
I have the end labeled 1 conected at the rear romote connector,. I don't know if this even matters being as there is no check valve.

That is an adjustable bi-directional flow control valve. It will work but is expensive overkill.

Yeah, but not if you get them for free!
