I could use some help with the wiring of the key fuel shut-off, the dangling white wire on the starter, and the 3-wire alternator.

The shut-off 'chatters' occur when the green wire is energized and do nothing when the white wire is energized. I think that I have the alternator figured out. One wire is powered by the key and the other powers an indicator light.

I have not found any useful schematics online and the local Kubota service folks say they can't help me unless it is a Kubota machine..

Any advice will be appreciated

Kubota engines use mutiple styles of solenoids, some run, some stop, some active, some timed.

How many wires on the fuel solenoid?
If it's three, then test the wires like this:
If there is a black then that is ground there will be a pull in coil and a hold coil.
if you power a wire and the solenoid pull in then that's the pull in coil the other is the hold coil.
The pull in coil gets wired to the white on the starter and the other to a switched hot.
Some three wire style solenoids use case as the ground.
If there is one wire or two wires then there will be other parts involved.

If all else fails, put up a picture of the solenoid and where and how it attaches to the engine.

Two wires. A green one and a white one. The pump and shut off are on the rt side toward the front/upper.
I can text or email a picture, but I don't know how to do it here. I'm an old man.

I got your pics.
On that unit it is green is Pull and white is Hold.

So green wire off fuel solenoid will connect to the white wire on the starter,.
White on the fuel solenoid will connect to switched hot.
On some setups you will also have to add in a Diode inline on the white wire to let the solenoid release.

Below is a section of the wiring diagram from the LF3400.

Thank you X 10!! We live in Wisconsin and I took the Gravely with a snowblower to my son in Whitefish MT
7 or 8 years ago. About a year ago he said that it quit running, and someone looked at it and said that the engine was shot. I found an engine here and brought the tractor back to WI. The malfunction was a loose distributor cap that collided with the rotor. The old engine runs well, but I'd committed to upgrading
to the Kubota. I now have an extra tractor with an extra engine! It looks like you are in the same part of the country as our son. Thank you again for the information. Great detective work!

Yep Whitefish is just to the east of us, very similar terrain and environment.
Do you still need info on the alternator wiring?

I should probably get your input. It is a 3-wire alt. The heavy red and two smaller ones on the plug. One should be keyed to positive, I think, and I'm not sure what I did with the other one. It's probably looking for a home. I'm not working on the project right now. I'll check tomorrow. Thanks again.

On the alternator there will be three connections. (U7 / Blue) in the print.
Battery, ignition, lamp.

B is the largest terminal RED
I, L will be the smaller wires
I = Orange / white
L = Yellow

The lamp (L3 /Green) is NOT a light to ground, it's to ignition hot on one side and L wire on the other.
It's shown in the print as having a resistor in parallel (yellow) with it but you can disregard that, as I do believe it's just for the other lamps use.

hmm, if L-3 is the 'charge' light, the resistor is added so if the light bulb burns out, the alternator will still charge the battery. very common 'configuration' in old cars

Not In this case!
I = ignition = excite
L= lamp = not required to charge.
