I have a Woods HC 72 bush hog and a Kubota MX 5100 tractor that my father in law purchased in 2012. Does anyone know if I can convert the hook up to a cat 1 quick hitch? If so, is there a conversion kit that is available?

I hope you have previous experience with a QH … so you know what to expect with one.
While some folks seem to get along with them…. I’ve tried for 30 years to find a good use for two different models…..other than as trot-line anchors. (and corner-of-the-shop dust-collectors)
Looking at pictures of the hitch it "looks" like it's already QH compatible.
Better pictures of the top link hitch point might either confirm or deny it.
Application : Quick hitch adapter its for Category 1 3-Point quick hitch. 1 Set Quick hitch adapter fit for Category 1 3-Point quick hitch. • Quick hitch adapter bracket. A top link pin and lynch pin are provided.
One thing you might run into since it has already been running without the QA is driveshaft length being too short. Make sure you have enough shaft engagement. If not you can add one of these shaft extenders. You will hear some naysayers about using these but I have used one for years on a brush mower with no ill effects.
The other thing to look out for is driveshaft contacting the QA when you raise the mower. Don't buy one of the units with a trailer receiver welded under it to use with any PTO driven implements. The HC72 looks like the lift pins are on the low side which increases the chance of driveshaft contact.
