question on releif valves

hello I have an older kabota b670 bh that has a squealing relief valve , ive read that these can be shimmed to increase spring tension to bring pressure back up , this is an older backhoe an has the hexagon shaped valve , safe to assume just fit a socket to it and back-it out and add shimm as needed ?

don't have a gauge to check pressure but its for shure needs shimming as its gets worse the more it squeals

Sounds like it needs serviced more than it needs just shimmed.

What he said....guessing will just just cause you lots of money, get a gauge and do some simple testing before you start turning wrenches.
