I recently re built my old snow blower(bearings/gears) and figured the lower PTO connection should be running a shear bolt so I put a Grade 2 5/16" x 3",I have gone through 2 so far not abusing it,there is only 1 shear bolt on the blower and that's for the auger, any thoughts on this please?

Old blowers with heavier steel need heavier shear pins.
Just looking at your picture of the snowblower, it's probably going to need a grade 5 for the shear pins.
That's what mine runs and it's similar.

Its running off of a geared 4 speed PTO that's my concern, thanks for the input (y)
I run mine off of a L3450 so just slightly newer but similar gears in the Trans.
You should have no issues shearing a grade 5 bolt.

If you have gone through 2 so far at least you know that they shear and work. Unless this is a big issue and they are shearing for little to no reason, I would stay with the lower grade unless you conclude the current bolts are failing at the slightest issue.

Wolfman is much more qualified, my comment is just a gut feeling.
