pto shaft for tiller seized up at its shortest length have tried to pull it free hooking it up between two pickups and broke chain. If i could get plastic guard off I feel I might have a shot at it.the shaft is a kubota factory shaft guard says it is a sc25 just cant figure out if it can come off with out getting shaft apart first.

The plastic PTO shaft is a safety guard put there to keep you from getting tangled up in the spinning pto. You may have to cut it off to remove it and free up the shaft. You can buy the plastic cover fairly cheap.

Put on end in a garbage bag and tape the outside of the bag so it will be tight on the shaft. Stand it up on the end and pour it full of hyd oil so it can soak for a day or two. If that doesn't work then cut the cover off.

I wonder for S&G's if Aquaforce's trick of heat and candle wax would work here to free up the pto shaft...

I have one that has stuck a couple times; I shoot a healthy shot of spray silicone lube into it and inside down the guard and that has freed it both times. I wouldn't advise WD-40, it stays too sticky, silicone lube is super thin and almost totally disappears. Oily lube will just grab more sand and grit and cause more jamming.

I chained one end to a tree. Hooked a come-along to the other end to another tree. I sprayed it with pb blaster, put tension on it. Hit the center with a big hammer a few times. Keep checking on it and putting more tension when possible. In about a day it had loosened up.

I use Kroil from Kano labs. Not only does that stuff work like magic, but it comes in an orange can that matches my tractor!

I would about say that kroil is number 1 but it smells like number 2. I love the stuff as long as it's a outside project.

Deep Creep is the best stuff I have found for rusted nuts, bolts, and other parts, spray it on, let it sit for awhile and it works absolute wonders, I keep several cans around at all times.

Also while I am at it, when I take something apart, I always use Anti Sieze around shafts, on bolt threads, and it is really good as a gasket sealer, I also use it when I have to press in bearings and seals, it makes them slid in really easy and come back out the next time I need to replace them, I have never had a problem taking something apart after I have used that on it, even years later, it just doesn't rust anymore.

Best Regards

Paul
