I have a BX1800 that works fine on start up but after mowing for about 30 minutes the blades begin to slow down and finally stop turning (drive shaft not turning but rear PTO shaft still turns but not very fast). If you turn it off for a while the blades start working again. I have been told possible clutch problem? If so, what do I need to replace to get it going again?

How long has it been since it had both hydraulic filters and fluid changed?
It sounds more like a fluid or relief valve issue than it does a clutch issue.
If it's been a while since you've changed filters and fluids I would do that and reevaluate.

Not sure when it was changed, I bought it from a person who had gotten it from an auction house. I am in the process of getting fluids and filters and will try that first. You mentioned about the relief valve, I know that the mower is about 20 years old, should I go ahead and try to replace the relief valve spring or some other component at this time as well?

I would change both filters and fluids first.
Then re evaluate how it's doing.
The back filter screen is listed as washable, but in your case I would replace it just to make sure your getting good flow.
And use SUDT2 fluid, it costs a little more but is a better fluid.

I changed the filter and fluids and screen. After a while the blades began to slow as they had before. What would you suggest I try next?
Thanks,
