I have an L3901 with approximately 100 hours that has developed an issue where the PTO doesn’t disengage When I move the I talked to my dealer and did a search here and the “solution” appears to be spraying lubricant into the PTO cable. I have fine that a few times but the issue reappears a few weeks later. Has anyone come up with a better solution?

follow the cable down to where it attaches to the transmission

drench the return spring at the end of the cable with your favorite lubricant wd40 kroil pblaster whatever you have it don't matter. Work the lever back & forth a few times. Should free right up.

Are you storing the tractor outside? Perhaps every time you get on the tractor you need to engage/disengage the PTO.

Try checking the adjustment on the pto cable. With the tractor off and the pto disengaged do this. Rotate the pto shaft by hand and while your moving the shaft slowly try to engage the pto using the lever. See how much play you have before the pto cam start to lock up/click. I may just be set to close. Check the manual to compare/set the pto cable. It may solve your issue.

I will check the cable tension this weekend. Thanks for the help.

May or may not be related, but be sure to idle down before shutting down pto implements. They can burn out the brake for the clutch in short order.
