I have a L3000DT and recently obtained a rototiller for my garden. When engaging the PTO I depressed the clutch pedal all the way and had to bring the PTO into gear it was grinding. The L3000 DT has a dual stage clutch. I want to be able to engage the PTO without the grinding. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for any assistance.

Sounds like you need to adjust the clutch. :)

Or another possibility is if you haven't used it in a while that the pressure plate or flywheel is rusted, here is a quick fix to try:

Attach the Rototiller's PTO shaft, have the Tiller slightly raised so teeth won't hit ground, but not so high as to cause the shaft to bind, turn off the tractor, engage the PTO, start the tractor, take it out and start working it, and while the tiller is powered under a load slip the clutch several times to make it polish the Pressure plate and flywheel.

Now try to do a normal clutch in disengage and after tiller has stopped spinning, try and reengage, if it still grinds see suggestion #1.

If you need the WSM for the adjustment procedure, just send me a message. ;)
