Hi everyone.
I picked up a Mackissic Mighty Mac PTO driven chipper yesterday to use on my B6200.

I was wondering if there is any reason it might not be okay to chip scrap lumber?
I do a lot of wood working, almost exclusively with cedar, and as a result generate a lot of little cut-offs and small pieces, more than we can use as kindling.

It seems like it should be alright to me, but thought I'd see what the consensus is around here, as this is a generally well informed and experienced community.

Thanks
Ben

Not use you want to run 4x4 through it ! But little pieces of cedar in there - sure!

I would be careful that there are no nails, screws etc!:D:)

not sure how big that thing will eat but lumber is just trees cut into shapes right? If it'll eat a 4" limb it will eat a 2X4. The nails and other fastening hardware would be the concern.

A few years ago, the local power company hired a tree trimming company to trim trees under/around the power lines. They cut & then shredded as they went, and I took that as an opportunity for some cleanup. As they worked I occasionally handed one of them something I had cut & wanted gone, but they absolutely refused to shred anything that wasn't freshly cut & green. They claimed dry wood was much harder on the equipment, and that they could get fired if they shredded dry wood. Seemed fishy to me, but take it for what it's worth.

Thanks for the input everyone.
It's pretty much all small, clean pieces. I'll give it a try, if it was rock hard only wood I might not, but even dry older cedar is pretty soft.

I have a Wallenstein BX52s, it works great on fresh trees but does seem to work as well with 2x4 and other dry wood, cedar is a lot softer so give it a try it won't hurt anything.

Some of you guys are making comments I would expect to read on some other forum. And then a conversation within the thread gets started. You can think it, just keep in your mind not on the forum. Thanks for being civil.
