I just sold my old 10 year old tractor. It was always garaged, and was in great shape, but the finish was still cracked and faded. I just bought a brand new L3901. I would like to do a better job at maintaining its finish. Does anyone have a suggestion on what product to use, and how often?

I wax mine at least once a year and also keep them in a shed out of direct sunlight.
Any good auto wax is better than nothing. I tried the Turtlewax Ice this year and really liked it.

I believe the key is to keep out of direct sun light as much as possible.
I agree. Direct light it a death sentence on paint and plastic parts.

I have a friend that has a way nicer shed that mine but it has open sides. Even though his tractors are covered from rain the sun gets them morning and evening. His tractors look way older than mine even though they're not.

Besides paint, sunlight is real tough on tires also.
Two good benefits of covered storage.

I asked a similar question here several years ago for my L3301. Someone here suggested Nu Finish (wish I could remember who to give them credit) in the Kubota orange bottle. I decided to try it and have been a believer ever since.

Now, if it weren't for the scuffed buckets and tire wear, one would never know it isn't brand new. Very easy to apply too.

Thanks guys. Tractor fits in my walk out basement. Only direct sunlight is while its working. Will try one of the wax options. Only been here a short while. This forum is very helpful.

And the nice thing about turtle ice, you can wax your plastic parts. No residue like other waxes and it preserves the finish.

I am very fortunate to have the garage/shed space to keep my toys inside. You can buy the greatest polishes and waxes in the world, but nothing beats a covered garage to protect against the sun and harsh weather.

Plastic, rubber, and painted parts last so much longer under cover. So do things like switches and gauge panels.

Having said that, I do keep my tractors clean and waxed nonetheless. I use whatever automotive products I have lying around.

I forgot about that but you're 100% correct. I was very impressed with it and was about the easiest I've ever used.

Curious about this, I just waxed my B2650 for the first time and found myself wondering, aside from the hood and obvious large areas... Just how far do you guys take this? I waxed (also Nu Finish) the large areas of my backhoe and FEL arms, but resisted the urge to keep going beyond that. I consciously fight OCD regularly...

I'll be honest, I only do the tractor.

I'm afraid if I start doing the implements it'll turn into another full time job. I wash mine and keep them all in sheds but that's as far as I want to go.

Another product to consider is ProtectAll. Wipe on, wipe off. It goes on glass, plastic, rubber, etc and has UV protection as well.
Although my 21 year old F150 has finally developed some rust, the paint and all oem plastic looks practically brand new.
